[Astrid - Narration] Our sleuths or detectives arrived at the sketchy guruâs manoir. Outside, there were heaps of yellow flowers blooming vibrantly.
The color of happiness. It did not match the mood of the dinerâs topic. Grim affair. No laughing matter.
[Embering - Narration] Upon arrival, the psychic detectives were greeted by Ronan and Hallen.
âWe meet again - I hope you are all hungry. Weâve prepared a local feast for you all.â Hallen exclaimed. A warm genuine smile on his face.
Besides him was a boy; he seemed around 16 years old. A young man with wheat-golden hair and light features. Typical of the Lightzehagen genetic features.
Tsunami recognized Ronan by his aura immediately, relieved to see he was safe and his energy seemed healthy.
They broke the ice during diner. The meal was delicious. It wasnât the time to immediately jump into the hard interrogation.
Nonetheless, the brothers observed astutely the host and his young friend. Noticing nothing unusual in their body language and speech.
There seemed to be trust between the two. The boy showed no signs of nervousness or fear around the Guru.
The Guru Hallen was calm and friendly. A little too much some would say, but itâs too early in the story to tell.
As dessert was being served, Tsunami felt like it was the proper time to inquire about this yearly festival of blessing, âthe flower of heaven festivalâ, she read about while doing her research on this city decorated with ever-blooming flowers.
Flowers that defied the laws of nature.
Never withered. Ideal, it seemed.
But nothing is ever as it seems is it?
âIâve been meaning to ask you bothâŚwhat is this festival of the flower of heaven all about? It intrigued me. I saw a picture and the abundance light Lilac flowers were beautiful.â
Tsunami asked, in a soft but inquisitive tone.
âWell, I am glad you asked! It is actually - my apologies - Ronan, would you like to speak to it? You help organize the festival each year as lead coordinator.â The Guru answered turning to Ronan.
Ronan finished his bite. He spoke in a polite and bittersweet tone:
âMila and I used to love going to the festival. Itâs a local tradition each year where our city comes together to receive the blessing of the flower of heaven. Well, itâs always shared by the Guru, now Hallen, after the last festival - our old Guru retired.
At the beginning of the gathering, we each receive a petal and it fades into our skin.
The magic of the flower allows us to find peace and unity, resilience and compassion. Some claim to even have been healed by it. Iâve personally felt like the flower lifted my spirit.
It definitely made my alchemy stronger and my body healthier shortly after. Iâve documented proof myself in a journal each year.
After the blessing is shared. We usually sing and dance. We eat some delicious bread and sausages. Drink wine and beer, well juice for underage peeps like me and MilaâŚ
Who you knowâŚvanished shortly before the festival this year, which occurred roughly a month ago.â
Tsunami listened carefully. She shot a quick glance at the Earth brothers and they understood they were aligned. Without a word or telepathy.
âSounds magical and fun. It must be some powerfully alchemic botanical plant of celestial origins. What is the flower of heaven and what does this flower look like?â Fissure asked
âNo one really knows to be honest.â The Guru sighed, and then continued âItâs a secret the priestess of Black Dahlia keeps, as per our tradition. She lives in seclusion. She guards the garden where the flower of heaven grows - tends to it. She accepts volunteers and Mila was one of them. Perhaps you should also speak with her. I can put you in contact.â
âYes. That would be appreciated. We want to speak to everyone who had contact with Mila prior to her disappearance.â - Tsunami answered.
âSo, out of curiosity, why does the Guru give the blessing to the citizens then? If the priestess is the one who tends to the flower.â - Fissure asked.
âItâs a tradition dated since we discovered how to harvest the blessings of the flower of heaven. Hmm. It dates back centuries, but lots of the history and myth books were lost during the battles against the forces of evil. Our sacred central library was attacked as our realmâs war was nearing the end. We may not have lost a lot of lives, thank god. However, it did take lots of our sacred texts. Destroyed them. We have copies for most, but some were lost forever. The torn pages we could salvage, we did. We also ensured it was purified and no evil had tainted these pages.â - the Guru said.
âWhere are these pages and could we examine them?â - Earthquake asked.
âCertainly. They are kept in the archives under national security. I can escort you myself tomorrow if youâd like.â - the Guru offered.
âSounds like a plan. Maybe you go to the archives tomorrow Earthquake? I will visit the PriestessâŚRonan would you mind accompanying me? Oh and Fissure, I believe you wanted to walk around town tomorrow right? Talk to the local investigators.â - Tsunami proposed.
Ronan nodded, acquiescing to the lead detectiveâs plan. He seemed relieved.
âYep. Weâre doing the cliche âletâs split up gangâ amateur detective strategy. I mean telepathy does help.â - Fissure joked.
They all laughed and finished eating dessert.
