Dear lovely,

I thank you for your message and apologize for going AWOL (though be sure that I've been reblogging frequently on a side blog ;) )

Lotsa things have been happening over the last couple of months. I finished my traineeship and got a position that is not only in the department I wanted to work at but also a position and a team that is just very lovely and fun.

I also just recently signed the lease for my very first own apartment, that I can not only afford but is also very lovely and I am so excited for it.

I successfully switched my laptop over to Linux in October and even got The Sims 3 run on it decently (or at least not worse than before).

So all things considered I've been doing good (if you leave out the colonoscopy I also had in October).

I am also proud to announce that I've been slowly working on a new IF writing project. This time it's in Twine, which honestly intimidated me a lot but was ultimately not that complicated to learn. I did have to dust off my HTML and CSS skills for it and I am also so grateful for all the IF authors out there making tutorials for IF related issues.

(it's fairy tale inspired and will hopefully turn out to be whimsical)

So much for a small personal update!

First I want to adress the most important news that has already been spreading on Tumblr for the last couple of days:

The shutdown of beloved dashingdon.com

There's been a kind soul or two in my inbox that has informed me of these circumstances, as well as pretty much any IF-blog on here.

I always kind of assumed that would happen, as the alternative site cogdemos.ink has been around longer than I've been working with IFs and I had read about it as dashingdons successor when I first started looking into having a possible game hosted. I've seen people on here being shocked and sad (and weirdly the-end-is-near-y) about it all and I get it. But these things happen frequently as time goes on. In any case I thought the guy on who's shoulders the weight of the whole ChoiceScript-community rests (namely Don) is also hosting this new site.

So, what we'll do is: I upload the game on CogDemos andd change the link on both intro and announcement post (and it absolutely doesn't have anything to do with the fact that I lost the password to my dashingdon account, nuh-nuh, no Sir). I fact, I have already done it (and here's to hoping it works, please report back if anything doesn't work)

With this I will also upload the bits and pieces of the first chapter that have been sitting on my computer since forever, so... New content, yay! (It's not entirely edited though, so a couple of errors in wording and spelling should persist)

I will also use this opportunity and announce the sad news of putting Witch Blood on hiatus for the time being.

Setting aside the ask I answered about sleeping habits we're rolling with vibes today.

What I do know is that the descriptions for each witch type's shop are now finished and each of them is about 850 words. I also found another mistake with the interlude that I moved to the achievements while play testing.

Additionally I found out what hot garbage I managed to write for the second part of chapter one, so I am kinda glad I didn't publish that last year XD

On to more fruitful endeavors, I hope!

people often die from these conditions. instead of giving your money to these horrible companies, I suggest buying a used one off of someone else; maybe someone is selling on Facebook or eBay? used laptops/computers are more cheaper :)

I may have thought of a way to use my laptop for a while longer yet (even though I will have to backup anything I've got on there because I am living a life of risk and haven't yet). If only the display is broken I could probably connect it to a separate monitor and like... maybe a keyboard so I don't have to keep the laptop open but it should probably work? My workplace does that a lot because not every employee has their own tower PC. Nevertheless I need to get some backup storage first before I test that because I have a feeling that the computer will give up for good soon enough. I bought it 6 years ago and we know that that's bordering on Old™ for an electronic device.

Now to alleviate your concern: I do know about the problem and hopefully many other people are aware of it too.

When my Old Friend finally decides to kick the bucket before I can realize my plan to get a real decent gaming set up (I am thinking in about 2 years, maybe a little more) then I fully intend to buy a refurbished laptop. Not only does it sorta circumvent this whole matter, it's also generally probably more sustainable and, also important, often a lot cheaper than buying new and you still get a tested and fully functional device.

(the gaming set up is probably gonna be refurbished too. I really do want one, I paid money for Assassin's Creed Syndicate like 4 years ago and have yet to be able to actually play it)

A whole third of it is just a white rectangle in the corner plus it looks like someone splattered black paint across it from the top.

Getting it repaired is probably really expensive and it's about 6 years old already so maybe it's time for a new one :(

I hope for all of you that you get through difficult times as ok as you can. And that you, like I hope for myself , may find the strength and bravery to do The Scary Thing™ that you want to do so badly. It takes guts, and the result may leave some unpleasant notions still, but in the end, the goal is that you not only managed to pull through, but also br proud of yourself for besting the fears keeping you away.
