Binding Spell
Use this binding spell on a person if they are causing you harm (psychical or mental harm)
Needed:Â
A square piece of paper
A black candle
A black pen
Write the name of the person who you are binding on the paper. While visualizing them, draw a witches knot over their name. Fold the paper three times and seal it with the black wax. As the wax drips, say:
âTo be protected from you
this magick charm I will do
With these words I bind thee
For you to leave me be
To be protected from your harm
I now seal this charmâ
Focus on the person and visualize them as clearly as you can while the wax dries and the candle burns. Keep the paper in a safe place, and if the person starts to bother you again get it out and charge it again.
If you ever wish to release them from your bind, burn the paper.
Cunning Celt's Simple Binding Spell
You will need: - An image of the target (photograph or poppet) - A length of red ribbon - A white candle
Light the candle and hold the image in your hands, focusing on the target and why they must be bound, what behaviours you wish to bind. Chant:
âI bind you now From doing harm. May you be kind, May you be calm.â
Take the ribbon and wrap it around the image, chanting the incantation over and over as you go. You want the image to be completely wrapped in the ribbon, with nothing but red ribbon visible. When the image is completely wrapped, let wax from the candle drip onto it, securing the ribbon in place, still chanting, then extinguish the candle. Keep the charm in a safe place.

BTW, the belief that you have to leave where you are and go somewhere in order to connect with nature is part of the problem. You can literally connect with nature anywhere; yes, even in an urban environment. You have birds, bugs, plants, weather, seasons, etc. A lot of people need to stop thinking of nature as something out there and start recognizing that it's something that's already right here.

Using Solar Patterns to Enhance Your Spellwork
DayÂ
"The day begins with the dawn, moves to midday, through sunset, and then to midnight. Each of these four phases is associated with basic energies to add extra power to your spell:Â
Dawn: origins, new beginnings, illumination, childrenÂ
Midday: energy, growth, creation, increaseÂ
Sunset: decrease, banishment, resolution, maturation
Midnight: endings, gestation, stabilityÂ
From these four points, you can extrapolate other times during the day, such as midmorning or midafternoon." Â
SeasonsÂ
"The seasons have inspired more poetry and art than possibly any other natural event. Spellcasting by the seasons means youâll likely be planning your spell far ahead of when youâll be casting it. Chances are good that if you schedule a spell ac- cording to a season, youâre taking the time to think about it. If so, it will likely be a slowly evolving spell with far-reaching effects. Like the daily solar phase, the seasonal solar phase is associated with these basic energies that you can use to refine your spells:Â
Spring: origins, new beginnings, birthÂ
Summer: passion, activity, creation/destructionÂ
Autumn: transformation, farewells, nostalgiaÂ
Winter: introspection, planning"
From: Spellcrafting: Strengthen the Power of Your Craft by Creating and Casting Your Own Unique Spells by Arin Murphy-Hiscock
We do not cast spells against haunted places.
Those beings have lived longer in a house than its current inhabitants. As traditional witches, my family respects their right to remain in their residence.
So instead, we get to know them. We ask them who they are and how we can calm their fury or tame their mischief. Some are ghosts who have decided to stay in this realm. Others are entities that have lived in the area for ages.
To the more prideful ones, instead of offering help â which could offend them â we simply say we are moving in. That we will leave their space undisturbed and that we can ignore each other in peace.
Of course upon seeing evidence of our sincerity, they always leave us little gifts. In the end we do not really ignore each other. We happily coexist.
The majority of house cleansing and religious blessing rituals only serve to insult these supernatural beings, inciting them to become even more violent. Imagine being forced out of your own house. There is no way you would not fight to stay.
Besides, more often than not, even the angriest beings only desire acknowledgment or companionship. And if you are a witch too, you would see sense in building a friendship with those who have the power to help you.
If you cannot speak to them as you would to a normal person, try a more sumptuous offering, or do it while you are wandering.

Poppets
The word "Poppet" was a Middle English (approx 1100 - 1250CE) word used to describe a doll, and that's all they are⌠They are magical tools in the form of a doll.
Poppets are an open practice that exist in many different traditions and many types of practices. One important note: They are not voodoo dolls. All Voodoo dolls are poppets but not all poppets are voodoo dolls. I have also heard that the term "voodoo doll" was a phrase used by white men to demonize those who practiced hoodoo and voodoo. I am unsure on the validity of this but let's just carry on to talking about how to use poppets.
What is a Poppet? Poppets are a personification of your target. They can be made of wax, felt, material, yarn and sticks, they can be a barbie doll, anything you want with one head, two arms, and two legs (or two heads, if they are two-faced or just a Gemini - just kidding... but you could lol).
How do you use a Poppet? They can be used to cause harm and to bless and heal, depending on what your intention with the poppet is. Give it a massage, or give it a nice cleansing bath (without purposefully drowning it), or beat it up and give it a swirly in the toilet. The possibilities for this are endless. whatever is done to the poppet will be energetically transferred to the target.
I have personally used a poppet to whisper sweet nothings into its ear and make the target dream of me. They later said they dreamt of me for months for no apparent reason. Woops lol.
Activating your Poppet: To activate the poppet, give it a heart and two eyes. insert a taglock into the poppet to give it life, or show the poppet who they are supposed to be and they will represent that person. I like to breathe onto/into mine to give it life, like the breath of life and it works perfectly. It's up to you on how you want to activate it. There is really no wrong way.
Accidents Happen: If you accidentally drop your poppet or do something you didn't mean to do, it will be fine. Everything done to the doll must be done intentionally and with purpose.
To Undo: Thank your poppet for its service and help in your magical workings and mentally/verbally release the person from the poppet or attachment. Start to undo and disassemble it, this is done usually in reverse order of how it was initially put together, and dispose of the materials as you see fit. If the doll is biodegradable, you may opt to burying it, burning it if it is safe to do so, or just pitching it in the trash.

New year rituals
Hi everyone! As the year is coming to an end, I have a few ideas of ways to celebrate it !
Space and self cleansing
This is a classic of course, but I think itâs always a good idea to start the new year with a clean slate! So yeah, cleansing yourself and your house or appartement or at least your bedroom is a good idea! You can use any of your preferred methods (smoke cleansing, sound cleansing, spray cleansing, etc.)!
Releasing the things that you don't want in 2023.
After that, thereâs the releasing of what you donât want to emotionally bring with you in 2023! You can do it with fire (by burning pieces of paper with the things you want to release written on it) or how ever you want! If itâs breaking some glass bottles or throwing rocks in a river while screaming go ahead! Just do it safely please! The worst way to start a year is with a trip to the ER!
Letter for your future self
Something sweet to do for yourself is to write a letter for your future self to read on the first of January of 2024. Bring in the self compassion and the optimism in this letter. Say some encouragement for your future self! Talk about how proud you are of yourself! Say how much you are thankful for all the things you did for yourself in the last year! Use your imagination!
Journaling about your word for 2023.
Finally, in my previous post I talk about finding a word for the year 2023 to inspire you all year long. If you havenât done it already, you can journal about why you chose that word and what it means to you. You can also include ways to act in alignment with that word!
So I hope you all have a wonderful new year eve! I canât wait to see this community grow in 2023!
Much love,
Juniper!
SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE
Lammas/Lughnasadh/Lunasa
February 2
Lammas is the âcross-quarterâ day marking the first harvest of early grain, where the first loaf of the bread from the harvest is broken and shared in the name of the Goddess. All crops associated with grain and of the season are sacred to this time. Much festivity is coincident with Lammas in Australia, with Australia Day being marked on January 26. It is a time to reflect on the successes of the year and to reward yourself for jobs well done. Lammas magic can be magic of facing up to change. The God gives his energy to the crops to ensure life while the Goddess, as Mother, prepares to transform into her aspect as the Crone. The God loses his strength as the days grow shorter.
Mabon/Madron (Autumn Equinox)
March 20-23
Mabon is a balancing point in the light and dark of the year, the day when the sun has equal hours in and out of the sky. It is also the second harvest. At this time food is prepared for storage, jams and pickles are made, and fruits are candied and preserved for the coming winter. Pagans celebrate this as a rite of Thanksgiving, a celebration of harvest abundance, an appreciation of hearth, home, and family. It is a time to reflect on what it means to be a Witch and re-affirm your commitment to the Craft. This is the time when the Goddess is mourning the God even though she carries him within her, to be born again at Yule.
Samhain/ All Hallowâs Eve / Halloween
April 30/May 1
The Pagan year begins (and ends) with Samhain. It is a time of reflection, of looking back over the last year. This is the time when the boundary is thinnest between the worlds of living and dead; the powers of divination, the Sight, and supernatural communication are strengthened on Samhain night, and it is considered a powerful but dangerous time to communicate with lost loved ones. Pagans celebrate Samhain as an acknowledgment that without death, there can be no rebirth. At Samhain, the darkness increases and the Goddess reigns in her powerful aspect of the Crone. The God passes into the underworld to become reborn of the Goddess again at Yule. It is a time to honour those who have gone before us and it is a poignant co-incidence that Australia and New Zealandâs day of Remembrance for their fallen in war, ANZAC Day on April 25, should be so close to the southern Samhain.
Yule (Winter Solstice)
June 20-23
Winter solstice or Yule is the shortest day, and also the longest night of the year. It marks the return of the Sunâs warmth and light, and the promise once again of a productive Earth. Pagans celebrate these aspects with candles, fire, greenery and feasting. At this time, Yule logs are burned. The Yule log must traditionally be the root of a hardwood tree, and in Australia mallee roots are ideal for this purpose, as are Tasmanian oaks and all types of Eucalyptus. The Yule log is burned down until nothing but a small piece remains, which is saved and kept to be used as a lighter for the following yearâs Yule fire. A Yule tree is placed within the traditional Wiccan home, with a pentagram (five pointed star) at the top, symbolizing the five elements. Presents are exchanged and many Witches stay up all night to welcome the sun. This is symbolic of the Goddess giving birth to the God and then resting after her ordeal.
Imbolc / Imbolg / Candlemas / Feast of Torches / Oimelc /Lupercalia / Brigidâs Day
July 31/August 1
Imbolc is the time of the beginning of beginnings, the time to consider carefully what you will do with the year stretching before you. Imbolc brings the awakening of the life force when the first green shoots of bulbs appear. Life is stirring again and this marks the Goddess recovering after giving birth while the newborn God is depicted as a small child nursing from his mother. The God is growing, spreading sunshine all around causing things to grow. It is a time to honour the feminine and get ready for spring. At lmbolc, the Australian forests are bright with the colour yellow, the Acacia trees coming into full flower. Until fairly recently, the 1st of August was âWattle dayâ in Australia (it has now been moved to the 1st of September).
Ostara / Eostre (Spring/Vernal Equinox)
September 20-23
The Equinoxes are the balancing points in the cycle of the seasons, when the day and night are of equal length, reminding us of the harmony of the whole. Buds of flowers and leaf, all manner of eggs and just-born life are celebrated in decorations and imagery as Pagans rejoice in the Earthâs reawakening. The urge of spring is to do, create and bring in the new. Here light overcomes darkness with lengthening days bringing the magic of new growth. Ostara is associated with childhood and new life, and the God and Goddess are perceived as children, personifying youth and innocence before their entry into adulthood. The Goddess, as the Maiden, covers the earth with flowers and love while the God grows to maturity. This is a time to honour the masculine and to celebrate everything that is great about being alive.
Beltane / Bealtainen / Beltaine / Walpurgisnacht / May Day (Northern Hemisphere) / Novey Eve (Southern Hemisphere)
October 31
Beltane, the beginning of the summer months is at the November cross-quarter. This is the festival of the Great Rite - of sexual union between Goddess and God. Beltane is the spring fertility festival and there is feasting and celebration - a great festival for lovers! Beltane is the most popular time for Witches to be handfasted. This is the time when the brilliant red flowers of the Flame Trees highlight Australian forests and gardens. Our famous horse race, the Melbourne Cup, is happily coincident with southern Beltane, being run on the first Tuesday in November and taken as an unofficial holiday across Australia.
Litha / Midsummer (Summer Solstice)
December 20-23
This is the longest day of the year, and a time of joy and strength for the light. It is a time when the powers of nature are at their fullest. In the past this was often marked with bonfires and celebrants staying awake through the short night. To leap over the bonfire was to assure a good crop; some said the grain would grow as tall as the leapers could jump. Due to fire restrictions in Australia throughout summer, celebrations for this Sabbat tend to be quite different from those throughout the rest of the year. No candles can be lit, no cauldrons burned, and no open flames are allowed outside throughout much of the country. Litha falls in the dry stifling heat of summer in the southern part of our land, but in the north, Litha falls in the hot, wet season, and represents fruitfulness. In Australia the Sturt Desert Pea is a sacred flower of this time. This is a time of ascendancy of the God, at his most powerful now, while the burgeoning Goddess brings forth the bounty of the Earth.

âââââââââââââ
Hereâs the explanation for fellow baby witches
Fun fact: The moon appears upside down from Australia! That means the waning/waxing phases appear opposite to how they would from the southern hemisphere, which is why the emojis seem incorrect (this is an edit because im stupid and didnt realise)
It's generally accepted in witchcraft that we get our energy and power from the moon. As the moon goes through different phases, so do our abilities. This is why it's important to pay attention to the moon phases, so we know which forms of magic are best to perform and what time for the highest success rate.
I never did this, and I dont know why, but i regret it. I lost motivation in witchcraft for a while because nothing i seemed to be doing was impacting my life. I had a recent spark that brought me back though, and i regret not paying more attention to this stuff, because i'm a very structured person as it is.
An important note is that this isnt a complete list of all the phases, it's an overview. there are more detailed versions all over tumblr with crescents, gibbouses and quarters, but this is my current understanding at my current level, and one day i'll expand it.
Also, other versions have setting new intentions during the waxing phase, whereas i have it in new moon. This is just personal preference because it's what makes sense to me. If you have questions or corrections, let me know!
