"I can't be Nikki!"

- going to the farmers market on weekends & stocking up on her favorite flowers for the week + supporting her favorite local brands

- (since the movie takes place in burbank) she loves going to antique malls to find decorations for her house and collects crystals for on top of her dresser!

- goes to her local animal shelters on weekends to take dogs/cats out for the day to take them hiking/to the park and loves spoiling them with new treats and toys <3

-major tea lover and spends her free time making syrups and different herb combos for her teas + preps different iced teas for the work week

- thrifter and could spend HOURS scouring every single rack in a thrift store. went to portland just for the thrifting and spent way too much on oversized jackets and vintage leather boots (she’d do it again)

- doesn’t get her nails done (acrylics) but taught herself how to do her own gel nails and loves different cat eye color combinations (usually goes with earthy tones)

- has an rei membership and takes testing out her hiking shoes very seriously (has a dark green/brown pair of hiking boots) and collects vintage free people/athleisure wear for her hikes!

- prefers lakes over the ocean since they’re usually more private and likes to write and journal while she lays out (also brings a cooler of snacks and her favorite iced tea ofc)

But also, Nikki isn’t Gretel in this story - she’s Hansel. Bear is Gretel. Bear is the Gretel who is forcing her to be “inside” him. Bear is the one who is disregarding their - siblinglike- relationship in favour of forcing a sexual one via magic.

Bear is the one who is keeping Nikki “in this place”, who, when she dared reject him, “flayed (her) meaty forearm, roll it like a stick of liquorice, and insert the flesh between (his) legs” - who took a strong and developed person (a “meaty forearm”) and ripped away the superficial exterior for his own use, leaving both the exterior and the interior permanently damaged and in agony. Bear is the one who is using the exterior (the “skin”/the Other Nikki) for his own sick self-pleasure with no regard for her well-being, only the sickening and twisted love brought into existence by a witch and a willow.

Hell, maybe it was Wish! Nikki who wrote it !! After all, we see that Wish! Nikki seems more than aware of the fact that Bear’s wish - and thus her creation - is an act of inherent violence and rape.

Time and again, the Entity associates Bear’s love with rape and violence and submission. She’s tied up and naked because that’s what she thinks Bear wants. She threatens to shoot herself in the vagina both because she thinks that’s all he wants from her and as a metaphorical shorthand for what the wish was - a violation of the deepest kind.

She makes Bear’s cat into a sandwich. Why ? Because he loved it - and for her, love is all-consuming obsession, and, she assumes, for him, it is violence.

The difference is that Wish! Nikki doesn’t care - because she can’t care, because her only purpose for existing is loving this man, more than self-love, more than platonic love. A deeply sexual love that she nevertheless experiences as an act of violence. Evidently, even it can recognise that.
