wise woman

she  had  followed  demigods  into  war  before,  seen  pools  of  red  stain  the  streets,  and  heard  cries  of  children  calling  for  their  parents  in  their  final  moments.  her  own  children  had  called  her  name,  they  begged  for  mercy  and  help.  it  sent  shivers  down  her  spine,  made  her  hands  tremble  as  heart  ached  in  agony.  her  father  had  once  said  that  demigods  destinies  lay  in  meeting  their  ending.  only  a  few  made  it  past  the  age  of  twenty,  it  was  how  it  always  had  been. ( reassure her, be there for her )  but  how  was  she  supposed  to  provide  that  for  her  daughter?  mere  months  ago  children  had  joined  luke  castellans  side  and  now  they  all  were  at  war  against  kronos. ❝ you are my child ❞ words  fell  softly  from  her  lips,  fingertips  brushing  away  some  stray curls  from  her  childs  face.  her  father  would  surely  punish  her  for  helping,  for  interfering  in  another  war  but  this  was  what  she  did  best,  guide  heroes  into  battle.  fingers  tightened  around  the  spear  in  her  grasp,  storm  grey  orbs  meeting  equally  stormy  but  younger  eyes. ❝ annabeth- ❞  ( she is not a child anymore, she has faced more hardships than even odysseus had at her age )  it  was  not  often  the  older  goddess  was  lost  for  words  but  was  what  a  mother  supposed  to  say?  she  gently  guided  the  younger  girl  closer,  arms  carefully  wrapping  around  her  small  frame,  lips  pressing  against  the  top  of  her  head. ( she’ll be alright, she’ll survive, she’ll live ) ❝ i will stand right beside you, i promise ❞ 

“You want us to do what??” She was in disbelief at the goddess’ request for the new capture the flag game rule. Just like everyone else in Athena’s and Ares’ cabin ; and the god of war himself. It is a rule just for tonight’s match — Athena would lead Ares’ team and Ares would do the same with Athena’s. Of course that almost no one got happy with it ; and it would be such a honor if their own mother could lead and guide them. However, could it be that Athena wants to test them? Annabeth is pensive about it, though she is still reluctant to accept Ares as her leader ( considering everything the god of war has made her and her friends go through ).

IT HAD BEEN ARES IDEA but she had agreed before he could take it back. a chance to prove that her children were more capable than his? how could she pass down that opportunity?  ❝   you sound surprised, annabeth  ❞  certainly her children must have realized that she always had a trick up her sleeve. ares leading her children would be a challenge for them in itself but they’d also be facing her by the flag.   ❝   i hope you aren’t doubting your own capability?  ❞  

The trip to Mount Olympus was not something Annabeth particularly looked forward to ; and neither were some of the campers who were there. And why should they? The god parents were not allowed to see their demigod children and yet, here they are. Despite everything, Annabeth was still curious to know how Athena is like — if the goddess of the wisdom looks exactly the same in the pictures from greek mythology books and if the girl looks like her god mother at all.

The tour proceeded as planned ; the camp half-blood campers saw the gods for a brief moment, but not all of them were present. Which disappointed Annabeth, because she didn’t recognize Athena from the goddesses that were present there. She is supposed to recognize her own mother, right? When it came to an end, they all left the big meeting room but the blonde girl was lost in thoughts, being left behind only for a brief moment when she heard someone calling her name.

Annabeth looked back, noticing a very beautiful woman staring at her — not just any woman because she’s in Olympus, the blonde young girl quickly recognizes the goddess. “Mother…!” There’s surprise, but also happiness in her tone of voice.

❝   do you have a moment?  ❞  she reached out, offering her own hand before she lead the young girl down the hallway. she shouldn’t be doing this, her father would surely punish her for speaking with her daughter. it did not matter, annabeth was here, she was safe  &  athena could finally breathe.  ❝   i hope the challenges haven’t been too troublesome  ❞  words came out soft, grip on the girls hand tightening. ( don’t let her know you were afraid ). her daughter was capable, she was strategical, smart and a natural leader but that hadn’t stopped her heart from worrying.  ❝   we- we watched you  ❞
