We are very much enjoying a quiet day of fun at home We made foam by beating the juice (Aquafaba)from two cans of chickpeas with a bit of cream of tartar. I’ve been missing this lady so much lately. I don’t know if it’s because the holidays are creeping in on us, or that my boys going to be two whole years old in two weeks and she never got to meet him. No matter what the reason is I will never stop loving or missing this lovely lady I got to call mom. It’s World Sight Day and I couldn’t think of a more fitting photo🌎😘 To all you lovely people out there , vision is so important! In recognition of that I’m asking all my friends and family to please share this post. Yes this boy is absolutely beautiful and his glasses make him all the cuter but they are NOT an accessory ( I know my peeps know that) but I’ve been asked so many times if they were real it’s unbelievable, they are very real and they help this amazing son of ours see the world a bit clearer. He may not need perfect vision to be a visionary one day, but I’m so grateful for these cute little medical devices that help my child live his best life. Please spread this cuteness , but most importantly that early vision screenings are so important in stopping preventable blindness. So please share this message, get your kids checked , current recs are at 6 months, next at 3 and then at school age so around 5/6 and obviously any time in between if you think there may be an issue. This is a throwback , and a cute slightly older pic for attention! So I’m hoping to start viral” hashtags #eyeamstrong💪#pediatricvisionwarrior and am hoping all my fellow parents on here , particularly all the other families I follow whose children have visual impairments will help me (so feel free to repost, or otherwise share this message with your followers) My children , particularly my son Atlas who is visually impaired are my motivation and inspiration. I want the world to know how incredibly important early vision screening is, it could save your child’s vision! I know there are many people that think they don’t need a child’s vision screened until there is a sign of problems, but you are misinformed. Our eyes are amazing , and if there’s an untreated problem your child’s stronger eye could be compensating for his/or her weaker eye and causing amblyopia (lazy eye) which you may not even notice. Amblyopia is the most common cause of vision loss in children. **SpoilerAlert!** I was also inspired to write this post by the current premiere of @thisisusofficiall We found out that Jack the son born to Kate and Toby was born with retinopathy of prematurity and is blind. I’m sure if any of my others vision families were watching , this episode hit home. My son was born with congenital glaucoma and has low vision , but I’m extremely grateful for his diligent, competent doctors for noticing something wrong with his eyes so very early. This early detection gave him the chance to not lose more vision, if I hadn’t noticed the issue soon after. I’m going to post a link to the American Academy of Ophthalmology’s guidelines for infant vision screening. I urge you all to share this or your own version of this post, together we could help save the sight for the children of the world .
