Long post alert: There are no words to describe what joy this boy brings in to our lives, and every one who crosses his path. Yuker is truly a great ambassador for the breed, never meeting a stranger. Though I grew up with a saint, and finally having owned one who stole my whole heart in 2010, I fell in love with a saint I followed on instagram. Walter. Back then, the dream I had of meeting Wally was on my bucket list. I even set a bigger goal to say "one day I'll have my own". I had fallen in love with the true beauty, build, and power a saint bernard possessed. It wasn't too long after that reading about Walters passing, the dream of even meeting one of these fabulous dogs was at that time, out of the question. I was crushed. A short time passed, mom and I chatted about going all hands on deck and what started, was the idea of vamping our breeding program. Hindsight is 20/20, mind you. Denial after denial, many reputable breeders had turned us away, so we put our dismay on hold to educate more about lineage, and a year or so later, we took the leap of faith, and we found our Nika from Russia. Her breeder Nadya was so sweet, gave us the pick of the litter knowing our story and having known we were looking for a long haired bitch. Fast forward through the longest four months of our lives, Nika arrived to us. I snatched her right up from the kennel and we've bonded ever since. Classes came and went, and it was for my benefit mostly, having never stepped one foot in conformation in my life, Nika seemed to pick up on it like it was bred into her or something (lol)... this dog would. NOT. Bait. For. Shit. I was becoming discouraged, what was I doing wrong? Handler was a word I held near and dear, and wouldn't even dub myself as one, I was so insecure about it. So, having general knowledge of who handled Walter, I said screw it. If I wanted to be great at this some day, I'm going muster up the courage to ask a professional. Oh Marty how you've changed our lives. So I send him a message on FB; what do you do for a dog that won't bait? Figuring this man is probably so super busy he'll never respond to a peeon like me. 15 mins hadn't gone by, and he replied... (at Olmsted County Fair)

Treadmill walk and then some weight circuits. It's a good day 3 :)

Meal prepped most the day today then got my butt to the gym for a late session. It's another show weekend coming up and I'm prepared. Sidenote: I listened to someone once say about consistency, "forget about how you feel and just get shit done." You don't feel like it.. or ur too tired at 4am or whatever it is ur not feeling like.. just do it. I didn't wanna meal prep today. But I did bc I have to. I didn't want to gym it tonight but I did bc I had to.

I know I'm going to laugh at this one day. But going to be totally transparent from here on out... Did you know that I actually told myself at one point in the past, and this is an honest to God excuse I've disgustingly given myself.... . . . . . . . . Nieces and nephews is a little bit of childhood that can never be lost. I take a lot pride in being called 'auntie'. It's my favorite thing to be in the world.

We aren't guaranteed the time we think we need to mend fence with those we love. What rebuilds a relationship is acknowledging, living, and doing things differently. And that's what we intend to do to put things on a better path to healing wounded hearts and to lead by example.
