“As far as I know, Ivan is alive. Wi-He would be the only one who knows for certain though…” Raivas bit his tongue. “He’s going to know I spoke with you… I’m sorry.” Raivas took a few breaths, trying to stop the oncoming tears at the thoughts of Ivan. Ivan had been… been a father to him, Raivas had hardly thought about this since Toris’s death… “Ivans last words… Ivan he said… he’s such an idiot, he’s said he’s sorry. Sorry for what he put you through for knowing him, and that he’s also sorry he never got to… to bed you. I… I think he was… joking? I don’t … know.” Raivas wrapped his arms around himself and head down, tried even harder not to sob.
So Ivan was in hiding after all. Well, it was safer for him that way. “We’ll keep this short then. Tell Ivan to not apologize about it ever again because he has nothing apologize for. As for the bedding thing, please let him know that he wouldn’t have been able to anyway. I was already infatuated with a certain German by then. And yes, it’s mostly joking when he said he was sorry he never got to bed me. Now, leave… He’ll be coming for you or me soon, go.” Gilbert urged the blond.
Raivas whined but turned and left quickly, vanishing into the crowd, knowing Winter would find him if he was wanted back at all. Of course the man could leave him to starve to death on the streets. But that would be a far too merciful death.
Winter walked slowly back into the throngs of people, grabbing Raivas and dragging him off, the boy neither yelped or said a word, merely looking down and letting himself cry. It wouldn't worsen the coming punishment anymore, by now.
