randomly decided to do a HK AU for Rain World because I love to make designs and HK's art style is so endearing. I have some bases for the story, and the world building, but I'm still missing a lot. I still don't know how to call the kingdom I mention so often. I was thinking of Rainfall, but that seems... boring. I'd love some help on that if you got any.
the story is basically that Pebbles and Moon are part of an ant colony (completely unrelated to the Skarr). in this colony, only queens (and to-be-queens) and princes (drones) have a face. all other don't - that means, they don't have any thoughts, and are mere mindless beasts working for the colony and serving the queen. but, [event that I need to define] caused Pebbles to realize his situation and seek an escape to it, to become his own person. him leaving the colony had caused great damage to it, putting it in danger. it became Moon's responsibility to search for him and get him back - although, contrary to her mother, the queen, she has no hate for what Pebbles did, and believes that he can be reasoned.
Pebbles will be accompanied by Suns in his travel to find the lost higher being of the kingdom, The Enlightened One, in hope that It can grant him his wish to have a face, so he may not rely on a mask anymore. as for Moon, she will often encounter Sliver, a mysterious presence who seem to take amusement in guiding her and questioning her actions. as for Sig, he is basically the Cornifer/Shakra of this kingdom, giving out maps, but also guiding the other bugs around, and being a nice company.

i don't know. i genuinely don't know what i'd do with them. i have zero idea. so maybe if i end up having one. so far i have no plan to add them.

maybe. i don't even have a headcanon RW design for them, so for a bug design... that will have to wait a lot.
-> Pebbles is a worker ant, does that mean he's transmasc?
it wasn't originally my intention, i honestly didnt pay attention, because you see, i know nothing about ants. i checked after i made the design and saw that all worker ants are female and i went "oh okay" so you know what, what the hell, sure. it fits his search for identity and to be his own person.

Gotta tell you guys something wild in the Chinese fan sphere
So some fanartist drew a “sexy” (read: booby) version of a (cartoon) character who is traditionally very non-sexualised. Fans of the character got mad about it because it’s kind of groundbreaking how that character is written and portrayed and this art totally ignores the entire point of the character. They demanded the art be deleted. In response to that other people said, well what the fanartist did may be distateful but they have every right to draw what they’re into. The two sides fight for days and each starts a harassment campaign and even report their “opponents’” accounts.
So far so typical. But things eventually come to a head and they decide that this will be settled by votes - not through a poll. Through donations to a children’s education charity via each side’s portal. Whoever can get the highest amount of donation wins.
And that is how this charity received over 1 million in donations in three days lol. Oh btw the “freedom of expression” side won by a landslide (960k to 40k)

When it comes to the iterators I am not surprised that unlike their parents they are able to die. If gods are meant to possess desired traits then is it really a surprise that a society unable to die has helplessly mortal Gods.
Alas their gods are but an illusion. Their purpose went unfulfilled and their parents ascended without their help. After the global ascension there was no future for them but a painful slow death.
