AU where, in an effort to create unrest in Akielos to reclaim delfeur or whatevs idk, Laurent plays the long game of playing both Damen and Kastor, sowing different seeds of opinion in them both and then they go to war against eachother over laurent
Okay but like, post-KR Laurent seeing Damen draped in the finest crimson silks, rubies and garnets entwined with gold and just dripping in regality and power, but being so overwhelmed and changed because red was a colour that he hated, he avoided for so many years because red was his uncle’s colour. The blood red of the Regency. But now as he looks at his beautiful husband the realization strikes him so clearly that it’s not his uncle’s colour anymore. It is the strong, fiery colour of Damianos, and that can’t be taken away from him. And the world changes ever so slightly more because he loves this man so fiercely that it erases more and more of the Regent every day.
I know that this is posed as like a HC but I think it’s a HC we are led to because surely this is exactly why Pacat made the regency and Akielos have the same colour? So that both Laurent’s enemies were conveniently colour-coded the same way but then so that Damen could “take the place” of Laurent’s uncle?
Imagine Damen and Laurent coming across a play about themselves and how they took their own thrones back like in ATLA or GOT, Laurent is potrayed as an angsty bitch, damens portayed as a ladys man goofball or somthing Laurent loves it and drags damen to see it everynight they're in town, or even worse the play is about Marlas and the death or king Aleron and prince August. Damen is a bloodthirsty beast and Laurent is shown as losing his sanity afterwards
OH MAN this is such a delightful concept lmao. We know from The Adventures of Charls that there are already all kinds of wild public rumors about Lamen-- I bet the events of the first book are the source of some craaaazy speculation, with all kinds of arguments about who was in control and who knew what when (’they were in cahoots and having wild sex behind the scenes from the start!’ to ‘Damen could’ve broken out any time and was totally playing Laurent!’).
On the other hand, there is some stuff that could get really sad and heavy. There’s probably a lot of really dramatic war epics about Theomedes and Aleron, and I bet there are a lot of Marlas plays that show Laurent finding out and breaking, and Damen would be so upset to see those! And I bet it’s always really hard for Laurent to see Auguste on stage, even if he’s depicted as a hero.

The main divide in the Captive Prince fandom is between fanfic writers who use Jord as a secondary character and those who use Ancel.
I am currently incapable of thinking about anything other than Laurent, as a way to fight the heat of an Akielon summer, learning to braid his hair. He’d be good at it too, deft hands trained on years of convoluted laces and ties would have no problem transitioning over to filling his head with intricate little plaits to keep it out of his face and off his neck and shoulders. But the Real Kicker is the little consequences of the braids - the way his hair curls lightly when he removes them, the freckles he gets on the back of his neck, the way people at court start doing their hair like his and all the little children constantly asking him to teach them how (which he obliges of course, derailing entire days of plans to crouch in the street, laughing with children and teaching them to braid each others hair), and the intimacy of Damen offering to take them out for him some nights, attending him like he used to, putting so much concentration into being as gentle as possible, not because he doesn’t think Laurent can handle it, or because Laurent warned him not too, just because he loves him so much and thinks he deserves to be treated with gentleness no matter how strong he is

Every time I read it, the official announcement of the alliance is the most awkward shit I’ve EVER lived through. It’s PAINFUL.
But also... just imagine being a casual Vererian or Akielon footsoldier. You’ve heard rumors about scandalous escapades and princes turned pleasure slaves, that this alliance might be rooted in something other than strategy. And then, right in front of you, these assholes are calling each other brother and gifting each other an ornamental whip and a matching bracelet that symbolizes their shared history. What the fuuuuuck bro.
The absolute funniest part of it is that it was mostly the Akielons who were shocked. The Veretians were just like "yeah, that's our prince, he's done crazier shit before."

Sometimes I just think about our first impression of Laurent and how much that was shaped by the fact that Laurent recognized Damen immediately upon seeing him, because Damen was the one single person that Laurent held the greatest possible hatred for in his entire life, and therefore most likely presented us with the absolute worst of himself right off the bat even though he was still holding back just enough to avoid Damen realizing that Laurent knew who he was. Like, yes, we now know that Laurent has a spoiled, bitchy reputation with everyone, but Damen was the person for whom we could have received the absolute most biased behavior that Laurent could have possibly given us, and I think about that a lot.
Laurent is a 20 year old kid who pins his map down with three oranges and a cup. he couldn’t find another orange.

this tracks and I could not agree more. drunk damen is a force to be reckoned with. drunk damen WILL pick you up and drunk damen will NOT put you down. laurent learned this the hard way. laurent continues to learn this the hard way. drunk damen is the unstoppable force AND the immovable object. drunk damen cries at the kittens laurent sneaks up from the stables and tries to hug all of his generals. drunk damen WILL wrestle you at the drop of a hat (or chiton). drunk damen will also repeatedly ask you to wrestle with him. he is very convincing. laurent continues to learn this the hard way as well.
