this removes all the clutter from the sidebar. be sure to go into your appearance options and turn off some of the options to remove everything entirely.

second, i encourage you to use the new customizer (located at the top right of your blog when you are viewing it). it’s easier to see the lines and there aren’t any adverse effects when using redux with it. press “update preview” to view your changes in real time to make sure your tweaks are applying correctly.

third, something imporant you want to realize is that the top half of the code, which is a series of #wrapper, deals with the colors and positioning of elements of your theme. the second half, which is mostly {block} and div class tags takes instructions from the #wrapper code and then tells it exactly what should go there (source links, note count, pic posts, etc). if you’re editing something in the bottom half, and you see it’s enclosed in the <div class=booty></div> tags, you can scroll up to where the booty div class is defined and change the colors and size of the elements.
