Wine Tails

This past weekend we took a trip to the Cowtown Flea Market.  We have enjoyed the rodeo at Cowtown but have never made it down on a Saturday morning to check out the “fleas”.  Unfortunately we didn’t have too many finds, but I always seem to find a winery stand wherever I go!  

The Auburn Road Vineyard & Winery had a few wines available for tasting and I had to walk away with their peach flavored wine, Give Peach A Chance.

It has a cute label and I couldn’t wait to get it home and create a sangria with it.  I decided to mix it with my go-to Moscato by Barefoot.  

I cut up a Pink Lady Apple and a handful of green grapes to add a little more variety to the fruit flavor.

Then the fun of pouring the wines into the pretty pitcher!

Needless to say, I quite enjoyed the combination but the wines taste great separately too!  If you find yourself in South Jersey make sure to check out the wines by Auburn Road.  And make yourself a summer sangria too :)

Once again this summer we picked up something that others are throwing away and "recycling" them.  These Adirondack Chairs were a little sad at the side of the curb so we had to turn around and rescue them.  They are made out of real wood and I knew we could fix them up very easily.

Here is what they looked like once we hosed them down as they were covered in dirt when we picked them up.

Jason added a few screws to tighten the arms and backs up.

Also we shifted the back of one of the chairs as it wasn't centered.

Next we used an electric palm sander to take off a coating of previous paint and ensure no one would get a splinter while sitting in the chairs.  I should say Jason mostly sanded, I did try to sand two of the arms.  He was way faster and better at it than me.

Gunner decided to supervise the sanding process!

I wiped down the chairs put there was still some dust in areas I couldn't get out.  Jason brought out the air compressor, it cleared the dust and dirt out of every crevices quickly and easily.

We bought the air compressor to install baseboard molding and it has come in handy withe the cars and other projects too.

Next we went to work painting.  We used Rust-olum Ultra Cover for wood (indoors/outdoors) in White.

Some areas of the chairs had never even been painted.

Of course Gunner wanted to chill out on our work area!

We ended up doing two to three coats on some areas of the chairs but I think they turned out great!

Jason found these great outdoor pillows on clearance at Lowe's and I think they add just the right pop of color!

This past weekend we said goodbye to a few places and hello to a new experience. 

On Saturday was our "goodbye" activity.  Atlantic City is a short drive from our house and we tend to visit a few times a year for a day or evening of fun.  After Labor Day three of the eleven casinos will be closing their doors.  Yes that is almost a quarter of the establishments.  So last Saturday we headed down for one last visit to the Revel, Showboat, and Taj Mahal.  There will no longer be a casino that allows dogs to stay.  Roxy came with us for an overnight trip a couple of years ago at Showboat and she loved it!

****Edit - We thought that is was Trump's Taj Mahal that is closing but in fact it is the Trump Plaza.  We will be trying to go back since we went to the wrong place.

Here is the outside of the Showboat and part of the Taj.  Who knows what will happen.   They may be torn down or hopefully just bought by a new owner, but I'm sure they won't look like this if they are.  I don't know if the House of Blues will try to find a new home at least.

Guess we will have to play at the South end of the strip since the entire North part will be shuttered....what a shame.

Saturday was fun and sad but Sunday we went to our first "truck race" at Raceway Park.  It was a much warmer day in the sun than we expected but we still had fun watching our friend compete.  

I tried getting in and out of his lifted Jeep, its not easy being short but I made it!

Yes that is a lot of mud near the finish line!

There were definitely some scary points in some people's runs but as you can see these vehicles are made to handle rocks, mud and the like.

I was impressed that there was even two woman drivers, I wouldn't have the guts!  I thought this guy was cool looking...

I hope your upcoming Labor Day weekend was as fun ours was last weekend!  I have to try this out sometime, as a passenger that is!

I finally loaded and went through all the pictures (over 500) from the Mustang Show two Saturdays ago.  We had a great time even though it was a warm day!  In total there were 2,500 Mustangs in attendance.  I don't think we even got to see them all!

It was an early start but the cars were all shined up and ready for the hour drive.

To enter it was a sea of Mustangs from different decades and body styles.  They had us come enter in two lines and it was fun to put the top back, roll down the windows, and talk with the other drivers to start the show.

There was no way to capture the amount of cars there but here is a shot of part of the field.  There was also a paved area to the left of this picture as well as more cars to the right and behind the camera.

Yes that is Roxy chilling under the table.  She had a blast meeting new friends and looking at Mustangs.  Here are some pictures of her day!

Jason and I enjoyed the shade as well.  We went out exploring the show in stages.

There wasn't any car that I didn't like but here are my top 2 picks.  If only they were convertibles!

Right next to us was the other yellow paint color.  Surprisingly there was a strong yellow car presence.  I don't fell so alone now!

Cars were slowly leaving so we took down the canopy and got ready to head out too.

Roxy and I are ready to head back next year!

Happy Friday!  This week has flown by and I still haven't loaded all the pictures from various cameras from last weekend yet.....Anyway, here are my Three Things from the past two weeks!

1. Yoga - I used to take a class once a week with the amazing Gina!  Unfortunately that hasn't been happening but I made it back yesterday and it felt so good!  She teaches Align & Flow which I love.  I have tried other classes but nothing comes close to her style.  If you live in Philly check her out at either the Sporting Club at the Bellevue or Dig Yoga.

2. Martha Stewart Large Tennis Balls - Okay I know this sounds silly!  But I picked these up this week at Petsmart and they are perfect for Gunner.  He can fit a couple regular sized tennis balls in his mouth and that makes me nervous that he might choke.  These are small enough that he can carry but large enough that he can't accidentally swallow them!  Plus they were in the clearance bin, score!

3. Cute Note Cards - I received these adorable Papyrus Note Cards from my best friend for a gift a while ago.  They not only feature one of my favorite animals but are so cute!  I may have some hoarder tendencies and I have yet to use them until now.  I had a special note to send out and I wanted to finally share them with someone else.

Happy Hump Day!  I had a fun-filled weekend last weekend that I can't wait to share.  But first I have to talk about a new wine I tried on Sunday that is perfect with warm weather.  Since the weather has been turning slightly cooler I wanted to share now!

This is a Pink Moscato: Mallee Point from South Eastern Australia.  It has nice strawberry tones and a slight bubbly taste.  It is a "sweet" wine but I didn't find it to be overly sweet.  I found it to be very refreshing and it was very reasonably priced.  I bought it for $5.99 at Total Wine.
