Macklemore FT Skylar Grey - Glorious (Prod by Joshua Karp) (New)
cute first date ideas: hand-to-hand combat
@broadswordandpistol
There was an urgency to this mission. Most missions came with a deadline, its true, but most were set to fit in with the clientâs plans. It wasnât high priority for the Scattered Bones who valued quality of their investigation and the smoothness of carrying their task out over all else. But, from all theyâve been told, if they didnât eliminate their target by tomorrow, a lot of people were going to die. A planned attack on a rival businessâs storehouses, and a past history of similar foul play.
No time to hesitate; they either acted or didnât on the information they had. One life against many. Rose hadnât been here for the investigation âher time was so limited these days, spent at Soreyâs sideâ but she trusted her peopleâs judgment. There was no room not to, and the incriminating evidence was convincing.
She was perched outside the manâs house, the cover of darkness hiding her from her perch where she had a good view through his window. Patiently she waited for him to dim the candles and go to sleep. Not long now, until she could slip in and decide for herself if this would be his last night or not.
Rose would have to wait a while. Occasionally she would catch a flicker of a second shadow in the candlelit room. Eventually, however, one of those candles moved towards the door. It opened, revealing her target, and someone else.
âTake care of yourself, all right? I know times are tough right now, but youâll get through this.â A dark-haired man clasped her targetâs shoulder and released him. âHang in there.â
âHeh, if you say so, Alvin. Youâre in town for the next few days?â Although the merchant looked worn and tired, he straightened upright with a small note of resolve.
âYeah, thatâs right. Iâll drop by the shop tomorrow. See ya then.â He turned to go, waving over his shoulder at his friend before the door closed between them.
The malak was only a few steps along the path to the street when he stopped and tilted his head, as if listening. He turned sharply, locking unerringly onto the assassinâs perch, tucked his hands into his pockets, and ambled that direction.
âSnooping around in the middle of the night? Whatâs the deal, Spook?â
The second figure was a wrench in the plans. Nobody had mentioned anyone with this man's description. A visiting friend that just came today? An accomplice? Rose would have preferred to know everything, but holes in knowledge was part of the trade. So she waited patiently, quietly massaging cramps out of her muscles as she stayed still for so long, watching her target and his companion.
Looking into even the dimly lit room had spoiled her night vision, and she cursed silently at that as the second man -named Alvin?- left the building and came down the street. She couldn't get more than an outline of him, the details grey and fuzzy. Funny, it felt like he was approaching her location--
The assassin blinked, freezing still as the man spoke unmistakably to her. With her dark mottled clothes and holding as still as death on an overcast night, she should have been all but invisible, yet he's noticed.
Rose reacted immediately; he was a threat to the mission if he knew she was here. Jumping out from her perch, both blades drawn in an instant, she feigned high, dropped low, and aimed to trip him up. Hopefully she could knock him out without causing too much of a ruckus quickly.

Some people will step on you. Be one of the finest thorns.

Headcanon;Â After the incident with Prince Conan, the remnants of the Windriders had to clear their own names. They worked relentlessly for months gathering evidence and bribing and blackmailing their way to the truth until they could present the entire story.
The fact Rose had killed the Prince in her moment of rage and loss had to be hidden and was their greatest obstacle but eventually, they succeeded. The past members of the Windriders were pardoned and given an apology for their unjust seizure. Those who had been executed were given proper last rites, and the Sparrowfeathers came into being. However their underground work never went away, forming the foundations of the Scattered Bones.
the-king-of-the-wind:
Such events had never been to his liking.Â
Richard busied himself at the table, perusing at length over the various foods more in hopes of avoiding conversation for a few moments than because he truly all that hungry. One could only fake pleasantries for so long and he could feel his patience with everyoneâs facades growing thin. Everyone here spoke of bettering Pendrago, bettering Rolance as a whole, but none sought anything save their own gain. The world would never find peace while people clung to such selfish desires.Â
The voice turns his head, one he is not immediately familiar with and finds a woman vaguely familiar at best. He does not doubt that their paths have crossed in the past, for she does not seem out of place here despite her more humble attire. Rather she wears the simple style well, in a way that made her appear far better than those overwhelmed with gaudy trinkets and baubles.Â
âIt is not terrible, though I would advise against the tartlets,â Richard answered pointing to the small fruit topped pastries. âIâd one earlier and the fruit was a bit sour. If youâre hungry, I would try some of these,â he offers with a courteous smile, gesturing to a selection of flavoured breads and dressings. âI found the spiced one in particular to my liking.â Â
âForgive me, I feel as though we have met before, but my memory does not serve. Might I ask your name?âÂ
âAre they now?â Rose glanced at the fruit tartlets critically, before gingerly picking one herself and then considering the breads for a moment. If she kept her manners, it wasnât great to be just stuffing her face, but she hadnât been kidding about how hungry she was. Too much time dancing and chatting and paying attention to a dozen things at once, trying to get the latest updates on all important information, not enough eating.
Ah screw it. Rose not-so-shyly piled her plate up with the bread, a nice big wallop of butter and some other flavoured sauces, topping it with a side of yoghurt and fruits. Dessert, lunch, what was the difference?
âThanks!â She grinned mischievously as he asked for her name. â Iâm Rose, of the Sparrowfeathers.â She gave a quick modified curtsy, given that one hand was now balancing a fairly full plate.
âIâve passed through Pendrago a couple of times before. I donât think Iâve ever caught your name either?â
@windriding
âIf youâre here to quell me, donât waste your time. If that life was meant for me, I would have gotten it back long ago.â Daemons, hellions, whatever his kind are called now, it matters not. This is how itâs almost always been â this is just how it will always have to be.
Those who didnât want to be saved often couldnât be. She remembered harshly that lesson when sheâd had to strike down a member of his own family. The Shepherd examined the other critically, hands on her waists as she considered his words.
âSo you know what you are, and youâre okay with it?â
decordepuro:
âI know you could kick my butt if you wanted to!â Letâs not forget their earlier encounters when she was concealing herself as the Scattered Bones leader. âYouâre a good Squire, Rose, you have been since the start.â
With a laugh, she offered him a hand to help him back on his feet. âYou get this one, but donât think flatteryâll always earn you points.â

Anima was a little surprised to be approached, though he shouldnât be, he reckoned. His smile was a tired but hopeful one.
âJust to sell a few things from out by the woods, and maybe buy some extra clothes and fabric, if you have that.â He was considering a proper hunting knife as well, though heâd made no final decision on that. Basics, sure, but necessities.
From up close, sheâd easily tell he probably lived by the woodlands, if not directly in them. He had the scent of lake water.
âLetâs head to our stall and see what youâve got. We do have some fabrics although maybe not for your needs.â The latest fashions from Ladylake didnât quite seem like theyâd fit his walk of life. âBut we do know a store that carries some sturdy textiles. We can help you work out a deal.â
She waved for his to follow, pushing a path for them back to the Sparrowfeathers. âYou a hunter or something? Thatâs a pretty dangerous trade these days.â What with general state of the world, most people preferred to stay in the safety of cities.
divinexwrath:
I thought Iâd never see you again. He could say the same thing if he was honest. Approaching Maotelus, Sorey had accepted the fact heâd never see her again, or any of them for a long time. Yet it seemed the Lord was full of surprises, and he wanted to see what became of the world. While malevolent, there was a form of compassion deep inside.
Deep⌠Deep inside. Deeper than the ocean, probably.
The tension is broken when she punches his arm, and he moves to rub it with a laugh. She hadnât changed it seemed, comforting. Heâd admit that much. âHahah.. Well, I suppose we did leave quite a mess behind and you canât say you werenât involved!â He sticks his tongue out at her, playfully of course!
âWell, Maotelus isnât exactly.. Ah.. Heâs not as cooperative as I hoped but right now he just wants to look around.â
It was weird, seeing Sorey like this. Still so young, still as she remembered him despite the passage of more than a decade. A little snapshot of another time, as her own time flew past. Even as she had to deal with living in a world without him, so he too would one day have to do so without her.
âThat big old dragonâs with you?â Rose inquired at the name of that Great Lord.
âDoes that mean youâre not sticking around...?â The world had made progress since the Shepherd was sealed away, but it wasnât anywhere near the dream Sorey had envisioned. Resonance was more common but still rare, belief in the Seraphim still weak, the very lands still suffering under the remnants of the Age of Chaos. It would take more than Roseâs lifetime to heal this world.
It's time for another surprise attack! Incoming aerial attack!
â--Uwahh!!â For once, he actually caught her off guard. All that training must be paying off, and the boss might be a little distracted. As Yuri landed, Rose dropped the heavy ledger book she was reading and kicked back in her chair in alarm-- too far. With arms flailing with futility, the chair tipped backwards and crashed to the floor.
She was up on her feet in an instant. âOh you are going to pay for that!â
IM HOME AND I STOPPED BLEEDING and its 3:30AM and iâm up in 5 hours but screw it im grabbing my icons and doing some writing
Itâs also why my postgame verse feels averse to being called Shepherd or ever truly taking that mantle for herself. Sheâs only the Shepherd in ability, the ability to fight and purify but she doesnât embody the role of Shepherd as Sorey had been ShepherdÂ
your job is to give life, mine is to take it-- got that?
Sheâs taken countless lives, lived in the shadows. A life in the light didnât suit her. She doesnât regret what sheâs done but someone like her couldnât possibly follow in Soreyâs footsteps

sorry guys im still working and probably not gonna be on tonight. but ive been thinking about rose a lot as a parallel to Yuri Lowell. She feels a lot like a more mature version of Yuri to me, someoneâs whoâs been where heâs been but had come to the same conclusions and reconciliation of their ideals years ago
âWe just did what we had to, nothing more. Thatâs not âsavingâ anything if you think about it.â
Sheâll do what sheâs gotta do, because someone has to protect the weak and helpless in a world where the system wonât. And if that means bearing the weight of blood on her own soul, then so be it. She doesnât pretend that what she does is right or just, only that its necessary
âBut itâs true that a world where we donât have to kill is best.â
She believes in Sorey. She believes in Alisha. Theyâre the Flynn to her Yuri. She wants that world too, and she believes in their ability to make a world that one day, one that wonât need people like her. And if that day comes, sheâll gladly fade away to make room for the light
