You try really, really hard not to fall asleep during movie nights with Sam, Cat, Ty, and Misa, you’ll shift positions to keep yourself awake. Fluttering from laying your legs in Sam’s lap, to your head on his shoulder. To now. Your head pressed against his thigh, his hands gently rubbing at your scalp, nails scratching and soothing just the right way.
Rain patters against the windows and walls as some movie you know Cat picked plays out on the background. Right now you only care about how Sam’s rubbing the nape of your neck, his other hand circling on your lower back. Exhaustion creeps into your bones, “you sleepin?” He whispers quietly, you sigh softly, murmuring something about how if he keeps playing with your hair you will be
“Is she out?” Tyler peeks over, cats still focused on the movie. Bowl of popcorn in her lap; head turning so quickly to see you sprawled out on the length of the L shaped couch.
Sam looks over, his legs crossed. Hand still rubbing your back, “yeah. I’ll take her to bed once the movies over”
Tyler nods, sitting back to stretch his arm over his wife. You shift slightly, hand reaching up, resting against Sam’s thigh as you make yourself somehow even more comfortable. Sam’s hoodie keeps you warm, as well as his body heat. You don’t wake up when the movie ends. You stay fully asleep, even as Sam awkwardly shifts to cradle you in his arms. Rising slowly as Tyler eyes him down, “just gonna take her upstairs” Tyler confirms as Sam nods.
It’s still pouring outside when Sam gently drops you into your bed; soft cotton sheets, silk pillowcases. He moves silently to close your window, but you wake when it thuds. Blinking slowly as you take in your surroundings, “I told you I’d fall asleep” you murmur as Sam makes his way back to you. Crawling atop of you, pushing your tangled hair out of your face.
“Yeah, I like having you asleep next to me” He kisses you on the lips, fast. Like Tyler might barge in and skin him alive if he finds Sam kissing his littlest sister. You lean back into his touch, peppering gentle kisses against his lips. They’re soft, not rushed, you open your mouth when he licks at your bottom lip.
You hum contently as he slots his knee between your thighs, hand by your shoulders to help balance him, “miss you all the time” you admit, “you don’t wanna stay the night?”
Sam huffs. Because he does want to spend the night. He wants to spend it with you more than anything in the world. Hell- he’d give up a playoff spot just to be able to wake up next to you, “but ty”
You sigh, “then just.. stay till I fall asleep?” You ask, slipping out from under him and then crawling under the duvet, you hold it open for him, “please?”
Sam sighs, because it’s not criminal. He’s allowed to comfort you to sleep, he finds himself slinking under the covers with you. Letting his body soften into the soft mattress, tension leaving him as you curl around him. His hand splayed between your shoulder blades as you toss your leg over him
Sam thinks he has more resolve than he actually does, because he wakes up next to you. You’re sprawled out on the bed, Sam’s hand has somehow found your ass (not surprising) his leg is between yours. He might get chirped for the rest of his life for it, but he’d give up a million Stanley cups for this.
BONUS
Cats grinning when she asks the question on the podcast, “so- to the listeners who don’t know- Sam is dating Tyler’s littlest sister who’s living with us in the bay. Y/n, and we do a movie night, Sam comes over and she falls asleep and he brings her to bed”
Sam’s face drops, because he knows where this is going, but cat continues, “and they’d been up there for like an hour so Tyler and I get nosy- so we peek in and they’re asleep! Together!” She squeaks from excitement, “y/n’s like laying ontop of him and Sam’s got her in this giant bear hug it was so cute”
Sam blushes at the memory, “um.. yeah. I felt really bad because Tyler was not happy the next morning but” He looks down at his hands, “totally worth it”
Cat grins, “they are absolutely the cutest y/n’s always sleeping; especially when it’s rainy like it has been in San Jose recently. Very napping couple”
Misa jumps in, “ok what the listeners don’t understand is that y/n will text sam- while we’re under the same roof and begggg him to come nap with her and he doesn’t even think about it he just abandons me!” He exclaims, “like we’re in the middle of a COD mission- and his phone pings. He pauses the game. Reads the text and doesn’t even say anything just gets up and leaves”
Sam smiles softly, “I mean when your girl calls saying she wants to nap with her boyfriend, duty calls”
Cats giggling, “should you tell the best part of should I?”
Micheal continues, “and I come out like ten minutes later and guess who’s on the couch! Y/n and Dicky. And they’re both just asleep, it’s insane”
Sam holds up his phone proudly, “yeah, and cat got the cutest picture”
It flicks on, a photo of you and Sam. Just your upper half, head on Sam’s chest. Eyes closed, hand covering his heart. Sam’s chin rests on your head. His hands wrapped around you again, “it is probably my best work, very Peter kavinsky and Lara Jean”
