I used to be very against hiding where I'm from / saying I'm from somewhere else and I still usually don't hide even here. But yknow what sometimes when you're a solo female traveler from Israel and you find yourself in pretty Muslim & conservative parts of Indonesia it's just better to lie 💀 also rip to all the people I befriended or people who asked to take photos with me & didn't realise where I'm from 😍

It's genuinely fucking insane how people pretend religion is equal and not almost always misogynistic + how it thrives even in "normal" communities and sects. Like oh, your women & girls must be way more modest and have real consequences for not doing so, while your men don't even neccesrily wear the minimal modesty obligation they have? Multiple texts and laws refer to women as property, as lesser beings or as comparable to children? Us existing, or God forbid menstruating is unpure and sexual and we are responsible for mens depravity? Multiple misogynistic and harmful traditions, laws and texts? Can't enter some spaces and traditions?Communities shunning women who want to be seen as equal people deserving of the same standards and respect? And this happens even in "progressive" countries & areas, This is all apparently normal and good and you're a horrible bigot if you have anything but praise to say. Meanwhile anyone in many communities that's critical or gay or too different doesn't get the same courtesy, and all this is the tip of the iceberg & doesn't include the rampant sexual abuse that happens is closed religious communities, it doesn't include some of the things that happen in ultra orthodox neighbourhoods & areas that have Sharia law.

It's kinda awesome that nuns are almost the only women in Christianity that are obligated religiously and socially to cover their hair day to day (not includeding fundamentalist sects or some places of worship). unlike some other religions they are not raised or coerced to do it, there isn't shame or immodesty in Choosing to not be a nun & veil, you can be seen as righteous and religious in your community without it, no social or religious repercussions for showing your head. Not even all nuns veil I think, and it's genuinely just part of their attire. Of course Christianity and different sects have their own issues with women & modesty though. Judaism is a bit similar, it's a big deal in ultra orthodox communities but modern orthodox communities can vary greatly when it comes to married women covering their hair and it often doesn't matter. The rest, like masorati, reform, conservative etc don't care.

I'm Def gonna get tattooed but it makes me sad because my dad will be so upset and disappointed, and my grandma can never find out. And some others will be disappointed or judgy

It's so surprising to me to hear about wedding dresses that are bought & sometimes passed down. It's beautiful and I'm kinda jealous. My mom rented hers from those charity places. I think a lot of women do that tbh, or give theirs away at some point

I've seen this a bit in the Philippines and Thailand but it's more common here in Indonesia. I don't understand why little girls are wearing hijab. Like 7-12 years old. It's so fucking sad. And it's not like they're in a country or region where it's mandatory. Let little girls be children and enjoy the little time they have to enjoy their hair, neck & the sun smh. Also teenagers, but especially these baby girls. What possible valid reason is there for this
