QLs I Watched This Week #18
my immediate reactions to the shows i watched this week, in the order that i watched them! last week's post can be found here
the fact that this show exists at all is still incomprehensible to me. i can't believe they really put the most clueless man of all time into the omegaverse. save him 😂😂 i was half expecting nakhun to say the words "midnight distillery" out loud while explaining about pheromones, and i would have absolutely lost it. the gratuitous tiddy shots had me SCREAMING. i love gay media 🥹 this show has everything: bonding fever, soulmates, nakhun's whole family looking like vampires for some reason, canonically self-lubricating assholes, masturbation while crying, dramatic dildo shots, sudden side couple kissing, prolonged frottage. during the nc scene, it looked like boat was channelling dog energy with the way he was sniffing and licking oat. they weren't kidding when they called this the first true omegaverse show, holy shit. i LOVE that they're leaning into my personal favorite a/b/o variation, which is omegaverse as body horror. YASSS YASSS YASSSSSSSSSS OMEGAVERSE IS BODY HORROR I HAVE BEEN SAYING!!!!!!! there are all these moments of phatsa being genuinely terrified as things are happening to him over which he has no control. i love that phatsa was introduced to ai after having already spent half a day with him. the continuity in this show is spotty at best, i LOVE it. this is pulp erotica that has no intention of being anything other than pulp erotica and i am obsessed with it.
interestingly enough, the translation is still not good, but it is bad in a whole other way than it was last week. last week it read like ai slop, this week it read like the person who wrote the translation was very enthusiastic about doing the story justice but simply didn't have a good grasp of the english language. i am endlessly fascinated by this development. then again, sometimes nakhun was called nathan in the subtitles, so maybe they just used a different ai model, who can say.
A Dog And A Plane episode 7
damn, i think this is the least amount of shows i have ever watched in a week since i started this project! a lot going on in my real life rn. i won't get around to watching a lot tomorrow, either—i will have next week off from work, though, so i'm hoping to catch up on all of my shows starting monday. i decided to give priority to adaap today because it's an easy watch and not super long. i never have a lot to say about this show. the scene with kanit's father at the hospital did kind of make me think "damn i wish i was watching tonhon chonlatee rn", simply because i think it would be funny if someone went off on kanit's father the way chon's mother went off on ton's father.
Don't Be Too Emotional episode 3
the way the cooking scenes and food plates in the beginning of the episode were shot reminded me of hannibal. i was like, wait, are they eating people?? now i want a cannibalism bl. i mean i guess we already had hannibal, but what about second hannibal? 👀 the rest of the episode was a bit blah. everyone is very dramatic but i haven't actually seen one evil thing p'jane has done yet. can i see some heinous crimes please? 🥺🙏
The Edge of Horizon episode 4
i am so happy that the main driving force of this plot is still "people lurking". no matter what happens, there will be someone lurking behind a door or around a corner and just happen to catch sight of phob and tin behaving inappropriately. speaking of which, they kiss soooo pretty 🥺🥺🥺
Crazy Love MooMoo episode 10 (finale)
holy shit, that was THEE funniest death fake-out ever. i was laughing so hard. then they had the "fu checking the new flat for sex options" compilation and i fucking LOST IT. god this show is HILARIOUS. what a little gem! they said to be continued but i don't trust that until i see a second season on my screen 😆
some parts of this episode were hilariously funny, but i must say i was sort of losing interest towards the end. i'm not entirely sure what the stakes in this show are. i'm missing some sort of conflict. maybe i just don't understand the arseni plot, but to me it all feels kinda weightless. also the first romemok kiss was so... underwhelming? i know this show isn't exactly high heat but like. where is my sizzling tension. idk, maybe i was just exhausted from work and overly critical.
