The Alderidge family, is well known in Miami, Florida, now but they are also well known in Europe. Richard Alderidge took over the family business after his father passed away. Not only were they the top import/export company in the world, but they also were well known for being in the oil business. Much like every family, the Alderidgeâs had their own secrets. They are also well known in the supernatural world, as being hunters part of founding members of the Knights of the New Day. When Richard met Mara, he fell for her instantly, it was a small chase for him. But in the end, they ended up getting married. One year later, she announced that she was pregnant. After their son was born, his father made the decision to name him William, after his own father. Richard was proud of his healthy son, and baby William attached himself to his father instantly.
But everything changed as William started to grow up, his parents became busy between work and the Knights they hardly had time for their children. So they hired a nanny to take care of him, and his baby sister who was five years younger than William. The two of them became close, and Will did everything he possible could for his little sister, including being there even whenever their parents couldnât. In middle school, he started to hang out with the wrong crowd. Even though he remained close to his sister, he still started to rebel against their parents. But they started training him at that young of an age. Which did help a little bit but not enough because he was still trying to rebel against his parents a little bit. During his last year in middle school, he got into a couple of fights with other students. And that was the first time he got kicked out of private school. His parents of course, enrolled him into another but it didnât help. Although he did manage not to get kicked out of that one and move onto high school.
That summer, everything changed Will started to pull away from his family, hanging out with his friends more. He got into more trouble, even with the law but of course, his father paid it all off. Not wanting their name to become bad or anything like that. So he did his best to keep it out of the papers and away from the news. But that changed when he stole a car and ran away from police. He got community service for that one. Upon returning to school, he did the best he could with his grades. They slipped sometimes though, because of the crowd he hung out, getting kicked out, doing drugs and drinking. His father finally had enough, after William got kicked out of another private school and sent him to public school. He threatened to take away the training, and that wasnât something that William wanted because he was really good at his training and hunting the supernatural.
During his senior year of high school, he was still drinking and getting high but not as much. Will still hung out with a bad crowd, but they werenât as bad. He barely graduated high school, but he managed to graduate from the training problem with flying colors. That was when he decided heâd skipped out on his first year of college, and decided to travel and hunt. Will was good at that, hunting the supernatural and he felt like he had found his calling. But Richard wanted more for him than just some mindless hunter whose motivation was just to hunt supernatural creatures. So his father challenged William to go to college. So to show his father that he could, he made a decision to go to the University of Florida, to try for his business degree. This way one day, maybe he could run the family company. But that only lasted for two years, before he decided to drop out after not being able to keep up, due to partying and hunting the supernatural.
Upon losing the bet with his father, Richard decided to challenge him again. This time, it was more like a manipulation in hopes that the Army would straighten William out. So of course, he accepted. There were times during boot camp, that Will wanted to drop out. Being only twenty-two at the time, he thought he had better things to do. But his fatherâs voice was in his head. So he rode it out, not thinking his unit would get deployed, and when it did. He said goodbye to his family and left for Iraq, not looking back. Everything was going great over there, he felt like he had a purpose by that time. Even if he was a sniper, he was really good at it. And he felt like it helped him stay sharp to hunt down the supernaturals of the world.
That was until his last mission, William and his unit were sent out and by the time they got out of the safe zone, they were attacked at first by a bombing, and those that survived got taken. Getting kidnapped by the enemy, they strung them up and tried to get them to talk. When the first full moon happened with his captors he ended up killing two of them before they subdued him. Will learned the language over time because of how long they were kidnapped for. But at that time, he barely understood it. Just knew they wanted something and were willing to kill to get it. William had stopped counting days, after a year of being held captive. By that time, it was just a couple of his unit members and himself left.
After three years, of being tortured by these men, Will came up with a plan. He expressed his plan, to the others. He made a promise to his friend, Melissa that he would get her home to her children and husband. But he failed, she got raped and killed. Now being the only one left, William started to give up hope of ever being saved. The torture continued throughout the next years, he was starved, cut, and beaten, he barely even knew what was going on anymore or what year it was. He didnât remember when he broke free but he had and as soon as he got a weapon in his hand, he was killing again. Not caring if they were human or not. He just wanted to go home, and be free again. William was found a couple hours later by American soldiers.
William got home, and felt like everything changed. His family had declared him dead, due to how long he had been gone. But after he got back, they were relieved even though apart of him blamed his father for this and he needed to get away from that. So he decided to go on the road again, and started hunting supernatural creatures once again. His father didnât push him though to come back to Florida, they both knew he needed time. So he just traveled with his fatherâs blessing for once. But he was surprised when he came to Shadow Falls, finding it rather homely actually. He decided to make some roots there, and do his best to control his hunts more. So he brought Ace of Shapes, opening it up to keep himself busy.
William can act arrogant and sarcastic but he also has this dangerous side to him due to the fact of what he is able to do thanks to how he raised and what he had been raised around. Â He is also very protective, but he can make reckless decisions, he can also make very impulsive decisions. He had a seductive side about him, from his past of picking up women, and he is also very charming. William can also be very selfish and yet selfless at the same time, he is more willing to put his life in danger then allow someone he cares about to get hurt. No one knows how vulnerable, he actually is and he keeps that under wraps and doesnât let people get close to him. He does have PTSD due to what happened to him in the war.Â
