My muse is having a horrible nightmare, and is visibly upset. Send đą to wake them up!
wiithiship.
At that, he kind of wanted to start crying- and he wasnât sure if he could hold back tears if they started. âIâm glad youâre here, Jyn,â He smiled- his cheeks were starting to hurt from all the smiling. He didnât know what else to say- he didnât know if it would make it past his lips. He was glad she was here, he was glad he wasnât alone, he was glad that she- despite never  really having known the man-  was so much like Galen.
She couldnât quite recall being told her presence was appreciated, even when having been taking from prison it was clear that the alliance wanted Jyn because her situation should make her manipulable. Bodhi wasnât like anyone sheâd ever met before on either sides of the war with the exception of Chirrut, perhaps. He seemed to behold such kindness and almost innocence notwithstanding the horrors of war, Jyn could only let the smile linger on her features. Â âDo you know if youâll stay here?â
âMaybe, just until the fight is over,â He tapped his finger on the table. âThe Empire took my home.â His head started to ache as he thought about Jedha- about his mother.
wiithiship ( ??? )
he stopped, still, turned just slightly. He shook his head. âI didnât stand up- I lied. Lying isnât fighting, itâs lying.â
âlying is just WORDS. words are as much fighting as anything else.â he bit his tongue, realizing he was sounding a lot like he was some RECRUITER. ânever mind.â
"Why do you care?" He asked before he could stop himself. He shut his mouth and looked down at his feet. "I just- sorry..."
@reyscavengerzâ
âOh- uh, um- hi?â
âYouâre my co-pilot?â
"You're- you're the pilot?" His eyebrows furrow, he turns completely to face her. "I'm Bodhi... Bodhi Rook. Who're you?"
wiithiship ( ??? )
âCouldâŚâ He stared. âNo⌠no, I- Iâm not even sure why I helped you. I couldnât- Iâll- Iâll just leave you be, then.â He knocked his fists together once more, twice, and dipped his head, turning.
âhold on.â his words have significantly lost his earlier BITE to them, sounding far softer as he neared the other young man, eyebrows furrowed. âyou did stand up to them, just there. clearly you can do it.â

She touched his knee cautiously, ready to pull back should the man be at all uncomfortable. With a gentle nudge, she peered into his mind. She was nearly sucked in by the vacuum of jumbled thoughts that awaited her. So much suppressed pain and sadness lurked behind those big, lost eyes. Guilt and regret swirled about in him like a cyclone. He was damaged. So damaged and obviously desperate for help of some kind. She used her energy to soothe some of the more agitated parts of his mind. Trying to calm the whirling emotions to keep him relaxed and to make sure she didnât lose herself. But what was strange was the fractures in his mind. They were unusual. Unnatural.
There were very few things that could cause such a disturbance. All of them had belonged to the Jedi while they still existed. Living anomalies, ancient Sith artifacts, Jedi safeguards. She saw multiple cases of this often. The extermination of the Jedi Order had left those relics without a safeguard. They got out into the public, wreaking havoc on the galaxy. Her first encounter had been with a plague inducing orb on Tara V. A smuggler opened it and unleashed an ancient Sith plague on the people. It fed on the energy of the Circle, though the Jedi and Sith both used the term Force. People literally rotted away, losing chunks of flesh and limbs before going mad.
Carefully, Kly'tem withdrew from the young manâs mind, her smile sympathetic and gentle. âYes, Iâm going to help you. Do you remember your name? Where youâre from? Do you know where you are now?â She needed to get an idea of the extent of the damage. That way she could narrow the options.
âAh, Bodhi- Rook. Iâm Bodhi Rook. Iâm from- uh- Iâm from Jedha, I was born there- I⌠Iâm on Yavin 4⌠I came here with my friends- theyâre in the- they got hurt. Theyâre being looked after.â He took a deep breath, calming himself. âBodhi. Jedha. Yavin.â
âIâm the pilot,â He said once more, pointing at his chest. âI delivered the message- the message from Galen Erso. I delivered it to Saw Gurrera,â The memories were in bits, just floating beyond his grasp. He remembered the basics- why he went back to Jedha- meeting Jyn aboard the ship- Eadu. It was the things he thought about in the cave with Bor Gullet that blurred- just in his sight but too ruined to recognize. âHe didnât believe me- he- Bor GulletâŚâ the last part was practically a whisper.
The mention of Jedha was the first red flag. Not only was the place a warzone, it also housed a Jedi temple. It was where they harvested kyber for their lightsabers. She could think of at least four artifacts held there that could alter the mind. The name Bor Gullet came up then, making her scowl at empty space. Of course those Jedi idiots wouldnât have killed that accursed thing. They likely wanted to âstudy itâ. She couldnât imagine why. It was a threat to innocent lives. They should have been as selfless as they said they were instead of being self serving, arrogant fools. It was that kind of thinking that got them slaughtered by the Sith.
She looked at Bodhi and softened her features. Being angry at the Jedi wouldnât help him. âYou did very well, Bodhi. You finished your mission, thatâs all these people could ask for.â She slowly raised up onto one knee, kneeling in front of him. âBodhi, Iâm going to ask you to do something. Youâre completely free to say no. I want to look into your mind and see the damage that creature did to you. It wonât hurt.â
âIf- If that will help-â He took a deep breath. âThen, yes. Yes- you can do it.â He wanted help, he needed it. He needed to remember what his motherâs face looked like. He needed to remember what his auntâs name was. He didnât know who this woman was- but he found that he trusted her. She reminded him of JYN. He had followed Jyn, he had followed Cassian. Cassian- who was still in the sickbay. Jyn- who hadnât left his side since arrival. The two bravest people heâd known. He wanted to be brave like them.
He didnât know this woman, but he trusted her.Â
âThis wonât hurt,â she said as she slowly raised her fingers up like approaching a skittish animal. She placed her index fingers on his temples. Her thumbs came to rest on the ridge of his brows. âYou may see strange, unfamiliar things. Just ignore them. Iâm connecting my mind to yours.â She refrained from going into detail about what he might see. She just hoped he didnât see anything to traumatizing when they connected. Maybe heâd just see training or a random conversation like most others sheâd healed in the past. âAlright, just close your eyes and breathe, Bodhi.â She started rubbing his brow muscles. Most patients liked it. Said it helped them relax.
Klyâtem shut her eyes and carefully allowed a part of her Circle energy to wrap around his own. Gently, she prodded at his mind. There were almost no defenses. Theyâd all been shattered by that beast. No wonder the poor man suffered so greatly. He was overstimulated. Like a raw nerve fiber being touched by the entire galaxy. She continued rubbing his brow as she started peering around. His memories and thoughts were a jumbled mess. Like light refracting off of glass shards. As she glanced around, she saw much pain in his memories. He hadnât really enjoyed life with the Imperials based on what she saw. But one man stood out. A science officer. Something about him was soothing to Bodhi Rook in some way.
As she began receding from his mind, she gently tried to lessen some of the physical symptoms of his mental break. She eased the physical pain as best she could and managed to get his body to stop releasing adrenaline and cortisol. That would hopefully calm his shaking and clamminess. When she finished retreating, she let her hands fall and sighed as she tempered her own signature. She opened her eyes and checked his vitals. âYou did great, Bodhi. I know the problem now, and we can start working on a fix. I think we may be able to heal you enough so that you can pilot again.â
It felt real- at least he could say that. She was here and real and he was sure of that. She was real and she remined him of Jyn who remined him of Galen who had been a real father when his own father had never been around. But he hadn't known Galen, not truley. He knew the man from some conversations in a cafeteria on Eadu. But he felt that he knew Galen better than he'd known his father- and he had chosen his life path because of his father. He'd become a pilot because his father was a pilot. He'd hated it- he thought. He hated doing it. He hated the Empire and how he was stealing from his home and he hated the way his mother looked at him when he'd decided to become a pilot. He was the pilot- he was the pilot and there was nothing that would change that. And now- now he could remember some. Not much- still not much- and some of it still slipped away. He could remember and he wasn't shaking anymore and he didn't feel like his heart was going too fast. He felt- normal. "Thank you," He said- and he smiled as he spoke- because he felt better already and she was real and she reminded him of Jyn who reminded him of Galen. She was a friend- she wanted to help. She was REAL.
wiithiship.
âMaybe, maybeâŚâ He sighed. âMy father- he was a pilot. Thatâs why I wanted to do it⌠Wasnât- I wasnât sure if I even liked it. But- But if I hadnât done it⌠I wouldnât have met you-â He paused, the rest of the words dying in his throat. He wouldnât have met Galen.
Without him, the plans of the battle station wouldnât have never been stolen. Either by them or any other rebel unit, the galaxy would have been doomed from the very beginning without Bodhiâs bravery to desert the Empire. She would have been doomed too âââ no friends, no family, no home to call her own. Â âIâm glad you did become a pilot.â Â A little smile sneaked onto her features, Â âand youâll always be my favourite pilot in the galaxy.â
At that, he kind of wanted to start crying- and he wasn't sure if he could hold back tears if they started. "I'm glad you're here, Jyn," He smiled- his cheeks were starting to hurt from all the smiling. He didnât know what else to say- he didnât know if it would make it past his lips. He was glad she was here, he was glad he wasnât alone, he was glad that she- despite never  really having known the man-  was so much like Galen.

âI donât doubt that,â He knocked his fists together nervously, trying to look anywhere but at this newcomer. He seemed to shrink slightly, backing away. âI just- I wanted to help,â He said quietly. He almost added an âiâm sorry,â to the end of it, but decided to stay silent instead.
âthere are other ways to help.â this wasnât one of those RECRUITMENT drives and campaigns for the rebellion, though it might as well be. he dusted himself off reluctantly, glancing at the other. âi can FIGHT for myself. hasnât anyone else taught you how to do the same? because you could, you know.â
"Could..." He stared. "No... no, I- I'm not even sure why I helped you. I couldn't- I'll- I'll just leave you be, then." He knocked his fists together once more, twice, and dipped his head, turning.

âNot insane,â He repeated, lips curving into a tiny smile. âStill not a very good pilot.â He joked, because he felt like they needed joking. Just once, just a little. He needed it, and he thought that she needed it too.
She wished she knew more about piloting in order to have an informed opinion on the matter, but her instinct was to shake her head in denial âââ Bodhi deserved better than self deprecating jokes. Â âYouâre already better than most and thereâs always room for improvement, right?â Â Jyn let a little smile show in return, Â Â âDonât be so harsh on yourself.â
