the unicorn and the dragon
we ride for hope and joy and to thrive, however the world may be
there is a lot of joy to be had in being polyamorous. but i want to talk about the specific joys derived from being with someone who is poly.
it's in the knowledge that to them, you are important enough that they continue to choose you even when they have chosen others as well. it's in the knowing that your love calls to them so strongly that they feel it even when they have the love of another.
she is free to love however and whoever her heart desires. i do not tie her down (well, not in that way lol). i do not limit her, i do not restrict her, i do not contain her. she can and does find love in others. but i am important enough to her that she is always going to come back to me. it's not just a hope, a maybe, it's woven into the very fabric of the relationship. i am not less significant because i am one of a few, i feel like i am actually more significant because of it. my love is so unique and valuable that she has to have it, even when she is getting so much love already. that feeling is so powerful to me.
when a wildcat chooses to lie down peacefully in your lap, even when you give her the freedom to run, that is a gift. you have been chosen for the safety and comfort you provide. that is not diminished by the cat finding shelter elsewhere, that is enhanced by it. you are one of her favorite spots to lie down and rest. cherish that feeling.
Caeneusโ positivity is done so well in Kaos and I need to talk about it again. Sorry.
Caeneus is meant to represent the concept of living life for yourself and yโknow, to its fullest and all, despite the gods. We get a bit of that with his transition but itโs reflected best in his attitude.
Caeneus isnโt an optimist, he isnโt innocent or naive, heโs sarcastic and dry frequently and his life experiences are nothing short of depressing and brutal. But he stays positive about everything, not because he thinks things will get better because god do they not, he stays positive for himself. Caeneus stays positive because itโs better to enjoy your shitty miserable life despite what itโs trying to put you through than to be miserable all the time. And I love this so so much.
Thereโs a lot to be said for how him and Riddy are opposites there - had a life where nothing much happened and he died forgotten with barely any positive experiences but still lived his short boring life to the fullest vs had a life full of excitement and adventure that she wasted most of being miserable.
I just think this is a refreshing take on positive characters because the poor man is clearly fighting tooth and nail to remain cheery. Like itโs not quite an act but itโs clearly an active decision heโs making. Itโs such an interesting take on a character who represents the idea of living life to its fullest.
(Plus yโknow the theme comes full circle with him being able to renew souls. I love him so much you can pry his arc from my cold dead hands).

AURORA PERRINEAU & MISIA BUTLER as Eurydice & Caeneus in KAOS (2024)
Misia Butler as Caeneus KAOS, S01E02
i love you visible brushstrokes. i love you glue warped scrapbook pages. i love you awkward poems. i love you junk journal with faded receipts. i love you poorly composed journal layout. I love you unintentionally blurry photographs. i love you asymmetrical beading. i love you curling freeform crochet. i love you fingerprints on pottery. i love you reused materials. i love you improvised instruments. i love you mistakes. i love you bravery to make it anyway. i love you creativity that hasn't been wiped clean of every drop of humanity and sanitized and commodified.

The fog was so brief yet so beautiful
I searched for love in the heavens above.
The Heaven-World of the ancient Celts, unlike that of the Christians, was not situated in some distant, unknown region of planetary space, but here on our own earth. As it was necessarily a subjective world, poets could only describe it in terms more or less vague; and its exact geographical location, accordingly, differed widely in the minds of scribes from century to century. Sometimes, as is usual to-day in fairy-lore, it was a subterranean world entered through caverns, or hills, or mountains, and inhabited by many races and orders of invisible beings, such as demons, shades, fairies, or even gods. And the underground world of the Sidhe-folk, which cannot be separated from it, was divided into districts or kingdoms under different fairy kings and queens, just as the upper world of mortals.

GOD MADE TRANS PEOPLE FOR THE SAME REASON HE MADE GRAPES BUT NOT WINE WHO ARE WE TO DENY THIS DIVINE ALCHEMY OF THE SELF?
daniel lavery, โsomething that may shock and discredit youโ
In the early second century, in response to the question "Why has God not made man just as He wanted him to be?" Rabbi Akiva said "For the very reason, the duty of man is to perfect himself."
I wrote this nearly a year ago, at the time I had never read the work of Daniel Lavery, Rabbi Akiva, or other queer writers who has written similar things.
In fact, a few people accused me of plagiarizing, but it didn't bother me.
It didn't bother me because it was proof that it was real. It was proof that throughout history there has always been fruit and wine, there had always been bread and wheat, that there had always been people like me who looked at the magical transformation of one to the other and said "there I am, just as God intended"
