"   he   didn't   want   to   be   cruel,   but   she   needed   to   understand — whatever   good   she   thought   she   saw   in   him   was   just   an   illusion   she'd   crafted   to   justify   getting   involved   with   him   in   the   first   place.

scoffs,   she   crosses   her   arms   over   her   chest   as   he   throws   the   question   back   at   her.   “   i'm   not,   but   i   guess   i   just   have   a   bit   more   faith   in   you   than   you   do   yourself.   you   have   a   choice…   you   can   choose   not   to   hurt   me.   ”   moves   one   foot   forward,   daring   to   move   closer   to   him   but   his   next   words   halt   her.   “   what?   why   would   i   want   to   be   a   victim?   ”   she   uncrosses   her   arms,   pulling   her   fingers   through   her   blonde   strands,   shaking   her   head,   “   look   at   me   at   least…   if   you   are   going   to   be   a   dick,   at   least   have   the   balls   to   look   at   me.   “   she   finally   steps   forward,   hand   reaching   out   to   rest   against   his   cheek,   gently   guiding   his   gaze   to   her,   “   why   are   you   doing   this?   ”
