"The ARSENAL" Archive Vibez 🗃️💡 Paul Mariner - Centre Forward/Striker - 1983-1986 - 17 Goals - 70 Appearances -👍🏾 Signed from Ipswich Town for "The ARSENAL" in 1983. Didn't get as many goals as we would have wanted, but I remember his input back then for us. Robust, combatant, big strong old style centre forward/striker. Linked up well in games with both Charlie Nicholas and Tony Woodcock. Hold up play was excellent to be fair. Versatile, could play centre back, centre midfield and centre forward 👍🏾. League debut against Aston Villa at Highbury, didn't get off the mark, but, scored ⚽ the winner away against Nottingham Forest in the next game. Also scored a brace ⚽⚽ in his third game for us away against his former club Ipswich Town. Another footballer who left an impression on me during my young teenage years watching from the Highbury terrraces, as my love for the art of the game was growing.
