Hello dear readers, and welcome to the first installment of Beyond The Shelves!

This month’s highlight is one of the Librarian’s all time favorite authors, who always manages to capture love in a way that is balanced with reality. First, check out the interview below as well as some of their fics, and then come back later today for a list of fic recs they’ve graciously created for everyone!

What’s your favorite thing about Remus & Sirius? 

I love the dynamic of tough, apathetic characters falling head over heels for shyer, kinder characters.

Canonically, Sirius has a mean-streak. Obviously, he suffers a lot throughout the series but as a teenager, we see him as a cocky and careless rich kid. Meanwhile, Remus is a mild-mannered “good boy” who remains kind despite experiencing tragedy after tragedy from a young age.

I like the idea of Sirius sensing this sweetness in Remus and being drawn to it because it is unlike anything he has really seen. Furthermore, Sirius is canonically loyal and loving, therefore there is so much potential in fics and AUs to explore how Remus taps into that.

What do you think your signature is?

I think my signature was originally humor, such as the banter in How Remus Got His Groove Back, but now it has slowly transitioned into rich jerk Sirius trying to woo the lovely Remus. And I’m not mad about it!

What advice would you give new authors?

Write exactly what you want to write! Even if the plot is overdone or seems so niche that no one will read it, the story will be good if you’re passionate about it. If you always write stories that you yourself want to read, you will never be disappointed.

And don’t focus on numbers or get upset that other people get more attention than you. Focus on the quality of your writing before anything else. Always work to be a better writer.

(Also, don’t write in your summary/notes that your writing is really bad or that you wrote the whole thing in an hour because I will believe you and not read it.)

What inspires you?/Where do you get your ideas?

I am inspired by the ridiculousness of everyday life! I think people in general are ridiculous and dramatic and I love to exaggerate that in fics. Real life is genuinely stranger than fiction most of the time.

Also, I think the fandom as a whole deserves a lot of credit! I think we bounce ideas off each other and inspire each other in so many ways.

What’s a favorite fic you wrote and why?

Black Valentine is by far my favorite just because I feel like it best exemplifies my ideal writing style. I reread it and think it’s the funniest thing. I feel similarly about The Thing.

In 2003, Hogsmeade P.D. finds Sirius Black’s fractured skeleton in an escape tunnel outside the prison. He’ll even admit that he does prefer Remus’ company to anyone else’s ninety percent of the time. But—just because your favorite dessert is chocolate cake doesn’t mean you’ll never crave a cookie, right?” 

I’m so proud (of being loved by you)  Sirius Black and Remus Lupin are truly, madly, deeply in love. There’s just one problem: Sirius’ best friend can never find out.

The Thing 

Sirius continued: “I thought this little guy could keep you company while I’m at work.” Remus laughed as the puppy planted lick upon lick across his face. “I love you,” he said. Sirius’ felt his own breath hitch. “I lo—” “I love you,” Remus repeated to the puppy, in a high-pitched voice Sirius had never heard come out of his mouth. “I love you, I love you, I love you!” /// In which Sirius buys Remus a puppy and immediately regrets it.

She lived in Germany and could be considered as the first person to sew stuffed animals merly for children to play with and to counter the common “hard” toys out of wood or metal wich were popular back then.

There is even so much more to the story, because she was as you can see paraliezed from polio, she couldnt walk or use her right arm, she had to fight all her life just to be accpeted as a human being, she wasnt even allowed to sit in the front row of church in her home village and had a pretty abusive mother. One time she and her brother almost drowned but the townpeople only attempted to save her brother because he was healty. Her father saved her from drowning in last minute.

 Only her father and brother stood behind her, still she learned to accept her faith and make the best out of it. After a failed operation she said she had gone around living this way anyways. She started to sew, more importantly she started to sew with a sewing machine wich was realy new at this time. People would not buy from her at first but then she made a realy beautyfull dress for her best friend and suddenly everyone was crazy for her work.

Then she started to sew little elephants as pincushions, but when she attempted to sell them around christmas she quickly realized that for one children were crazy for them and wanted them as toys and also. this was what she wanted to do, bringing happiness to kids.

She expanded futher and gave work to over 20 women as sewers in her factory, her brother helped her to do so, and she started producing stuffed animals of all kinds (almost) their trademark was a button sewed into every anmals ear. It still is to this day.

Whit the economy crisis her factory, and she almost lost it, she already couldnt pay her workers, he factory was about to be forceclosed and the last hope was a toy fair they would attend,

and then she had an idea, she sewed a bear, the very first stuffed toy bear there was, with moveable head and limbs and realy soft fur and glass eyes, it was beautyfull, but at the toyfair most people thoght it was to expensive

most people because one american buyer fell in love with the bears, he bought them all and he ordered 3000 more, it saved the factory

you may ask why would anyone need 3000 stuffed toy bears easy, to support and advertise the candidacy of  Theodore Roosevelt as the U.S. president, trough that the toy bear invented by Magarete Steiff became well known as the

The fact that she faced so much ableism and discrimination in her life was indeed sad (and infuriating!) – and that may be the reaction of many abled people when they hear her story (the poor disabled little girl).

But the fact that she survived, and innovated, and brought modern machines to her hometown, and advocated for herself, and brought joy to so many people, in spite of that discrimination (and I do mean “spite”) is not sad at all.

Remus: Because it’s a big responsibility.

Sirius: Very big responsibility.
