USA people! Buy NOTHING Feb 28 2025. Not anything. 24 hours. No spending. Buy the day before or after but nothing. NOTHING. February 28 2025. Not gas. Not milk. Not something on a gaming app. Not a penny spent. (Only option in a crisis is local small mom and pop. Nothing. Else.) Promise me. Commit. 1 day. 1 day to scare the shit out of them that they don't get to follow the bullshit executive orders. They don't get to be cowards. If they do, it costs. It costs.
Then, if you can join me for Phase 2. March 7 2025 thtough March 14 2025? No Amazon. None. 1 week. No orders. Not a single item. Not one ebook. Nothing. 1 week. Just 1.
If you live outside the USA boycott US products on February 28 2025 and stand in solidarity with us and also join us for the week of no Amazon.
Are you with me?
Spread the word.
Organised by Peopleâs Union, read more here:
When Donald Trump reentered office, one of his first calls to action was to end several DEI initiatives in the federal government.
'This won't work, this isn't widespread, nobody knows, we're in a bubble, blah blah blah' my mom, a 64 year old lady with no social media whose first language is spanish, told me about this before tumblr did, and said we are going to participate.
I've seen flyers for this in real life. Do it.
Genuinely don't know what it's called but there's a particular way of violating reality that doesn't work. For example, I am willing to accept an omegaverse university AU of nearly any fandom you care to name (except, for some reason, Sherlock, because I have an inexplicable hatred for unilock). However, a lot of Star Wars university AUs specifically fail on this aspect: they make Anakin an engineering PhD student and Obi-Wan something like literature or classics, and then they make Anakin his TA or GA.
You can't do that. Absolutely not. Anakin is unqualified for that and a university would not do it in any case. A university would literally hire a junior or senior undergraduate workstudy student to do as much of that work as possible first. They would do NOTHING other than do that and make the prof do all his own grading.
Is there a name for "I will accept [wild fantasy premise] but not [ordinary wrong thing]?" Please tell me there's a name for this. Probably someone who studies lit will know? I'm a systems person I don't know from lit theory just like Anakin
No idea if there's a formal name but I think of it as "you have to play by the rules of the universe you create". Like okay, I'll buy that Superman can fly into outer space because those are the rules set up by the Superman universe and so the author and audience both agree that this can happen in the story. The minute Superman picks up a human woman and flies her into space with him, the author broke the compact they made with the audience and now that story is bad.
Ironically, the wikipedia article for verisimilitude cites Superman as an example
I think "it violates the rules of verisimilitude" is as good a name for it as any
It's walruses vs. fairies. If a fairy shows up at my door, okay, fine, I don't know how fairies work. But a walrus is not qualified to be TA for a lit class.
In my house it's known as the 'vegetarian weasel' effect, after a memorable incident where my wife could accept that there were 12ft long pet weasels in her GMs home-brew universe, but refused point blanke the accompanying pet care instructions not to give them meat. There was a 30 minute long rant about weasel eating habits.
It was great. I love her so much.
if you're feeling powerless right nowâand god knows I amâhere's a reminder you can donate to the National Network of Abortion Funds, the Trans Law Center, Gaza Soup Kitchen, the Palestine Children's Relief Fund, and hundreds of other charities that will work to mitigate the damage that has been and will continue to be inflicted
life continues. we still have the capacity to do good, important work. that matters

This consultation seeks views on how the government can ensure the UKâs legal framework for AI and copyright supports the UK creative indust
The UK Government have launched a consultation on whether AI should be allowed to scrape content online with complete disregard for copyright.
The consultation is stuffed to the brim with technobabble buzzwords and jargon that frames AI as wonderful and that this is a foregone conclusion.
You can submit a response via the link above and tell them what you really think.
So many questions.
I've completed 5 pages of this thing. There are 10 more pages of questions to go.
Almost like itâs designed to stop people answering!
I feel bad for Desmal simply because this man is writing all of Elgar'nan's letters. He has to write "On Behalf of Elgar'nan, Sun-Tamer, Crown of Arlathan, First of the Firstborn, Lord of the Day and of the Night, who Woke at the Dawn of the Elvhen." Every single time. No wonder the actual letter is so short.
And the thanks he gets? Shoved into a cyst a few thousand years later.

credit where it's due 'he's loyal to nothing but his own fears' is an all-time line about solas we gotta hand ghilan'nain this one
Rotating Solas in my brain
Solas grinds my gears so bad. But I also feel like his entire plotline would immediately unravel if you could just force him to chill for five fucking minutes. Because Yes, his plan is horrible. It was a plan formed purely out of self-pity and prejudice. But think about the fucking timeline here. I am going insane.
This man breaks his own heart by leaving Lavellan, then throws himself into getting the ritual set up. The culmination of all he has worked for. What he sees as his redemption. He gets interrupted, kills his old friend because he is trying to stop the one thing that will *make it all right again*, then gets a statue thrown on his fucking head and glimpses into the faces of the Gods he banished. And then, *fwup*, gets pulled into a prison made out of his own deepest regrets. He spends his days in constant psychological torture, except when he is pulled out of his own living nightmare to talk to some guy. The same guy who threw a statue on his head and disrupted his ritual. AND THEN THAT GUY GETS SNARKY WITH HIM. Sir. I would also become slightly unhinged.
I am not excusing Solasâ actions in the least, Iâm just saying I canât take you seriously if you interpret them as anything other than the worldâs most chewed-up man constantly grasping at straws. No wonder all of his decisions in Veilguard are fucking bananas.
âYouâre just trying to excuse bad writingâ Look idgaf if they did or didnât consider this in the writerâs room. The author is dead. Solas makes sense to me because I see a man who is squirming in his skin 24/7. Have you ever had to deal with heartbreak and low blood sugar at the same time? What if at that time, you possessed the power to doom the entire world? I wouldnât bet that weâd all still be here if I had, is all Iâm saying.
My point is: The fade prison is a brilliant way to keep you from just handing Solas a hot chocolate and a laced brownie. Because I think that might have just solved the entire fucking problem.

'The Blighted Elven Gods walk free. Because you interrupted my ritual.'
Solas. Solas. My beautiful egg shaped disaster. The reason the Blighted Elven Gods walk free, is because COMMUNICATING ANYTHING apparently makes you break out in hives and frankly I'm amazed you survived telling us you were the Dread Wolf without going into anaphylactic shock.
Varric clearly thought you were tearing down the Veil. Like you said you were gonna. That was obvious. And if you had stopped for 4.23 seconds and gone 'Ah, wait, sorry, big misunderstanding, I'm repairing the prison I put the Evanuris in, otherwise it's gonna disintegrate, the Veil collapsing around me is not actually part of the plan', Varric (and I) are both gullable enough to at least stop monologueing at you to hear you out.
But no. At no point did you communicate this vital information to your loved ones. So we tried to stop you ending the world, as you do, and yes, now, the Blighted Elven Gods walk free.
You muppet.
Don't ever change.
Origins: Only the Magisters have ever walked physically in the Fade. Such a feat has never been repeated, and the hubris of their actions unleashed an ancient evil on the world that terrorises Thedas to this day. Inquisition: Your trip through the Fade at Adamant was unprecedented and dangerous and we should make sure no-one does it again. Veilguard: 12 bedroom Fade Flat for Rent, 300 Sovreigns/month
When absolutely 0 of Bidenâs accomplishments have made any kind of news, and weâve been fed a steady diet of fear and panic for 3 years, no one gets to be shocked when he loses the next election to Donald 2.0.
Posting anything positive about the president here will get you called a capitalist bootlicker.
What do we expect to happen?
Anger sells better. Anger feels better, it feels righteous.
Itâs easier to protest against a president you donât like then to actually remain in charge and keep pushing ahead, even if small, consistent accomplishments are all you receive.
I know Iâll never be missing an election in my life again (barring some kind of major medical event).
I just wish it werenât so damn frustrating, feeling like youâre screaming into the void constantly, fighting against apathy.
CMS just announced that the government will start taking high-cost drugs that were developed with taxpayer dollars and start pulling patents to force competition and low cost generics. Thatâs fucking momentous.
I saw 1 news article on it. I wouldnât have known it happened if I didnât read the news every day. This should have caused the kind of celebration that erupted when companies started announcing $35 insulin caps. Why didnât it?
Low cost hearing aids, lower and $0 student loans, concrete investments in green architectureâŚthere was an announcement like 2 days ago to replace all leaded pipes out of US cities over the next 10 years, which will be an absolute boon in jobs for construction workers and can make our homes safer for kids. Iâm sure Iâll see a headline in a year, âBidenâs lead pipe program causes drivers traffic headaches.â
Republicans want 20 foot concrete barriers topped with barbed wire across the entire southern border, and Democrats want amnesty and ease to citizenship for just about anyone who crosses, and it really seems like until a compromise is made somewhere in there, Republicans will continue to turn out in massive numbers to elections because God told them to, and Democrats will continue to stay home because the last president didnât accomplish 100% of their goals and voting for an imperfect president is a personal and ethical failing.
Now take that mentality and spread it over every single social and economic issue.
I remember how utterly scared and angry we were sone years ago when Trump was trying to bankrupt the USPS. People were talking about it left right and sideways, asking people to buy from the USPS gift shop, start a stamp collection, anything. Then, Biden got elected and put a huge stop to that by getting rid of the unfair laws that only the USPS had to abide by. Overnight, the USPS was saved, and how did everyone react?
They didn't. It was hardly mentioned. Not a blip.
Same exact thing when it came to net neutrality!! It was DEVASTATING when it was killed. People died in wildfires because Internet providers throttled data of firefighters. Xfinity actually stole identities in order to make it happen.
About a month ago, BAM, it was restored because Biden appointed a Democratic leader to the FFC. Did anyone talk about it? Nope. I saw ONE post.
okay, so as much as I think that Biden was the least shitty of two garbage presidential candidates, and as much as I disagree with some of the things heâs done⌠âŚI have to admit that the Biden-Harris administration has done more for the average Americanâs life than any other I can remember in the last 20-30 years. even with a congress made up of majority spoiled toddlers who would rather kill a man than vote âyesâ to save a hundred thousand, they have:
changed the Medicare enrollment periods for elderly and disabled individuals, so that they donât have to literally enroll in the designated period for enrollment and then STILL WAIT for 2, 3, 4, 5, or even SIX months for their healthcare to start
along the Medicare line, they have added special enrollments for: people who just got released from jail, who lost their low-income healthcare through Medicaid, had a medical emergency or natural disaster that made them miss enrollment, didnât enroll because they were lied to by their employers, etc
they CAPPED THE COST OF INSULIN to $35/MONTH FOR MEDICARE BENEFICIARIES!!!!! and they are working to get it capped to that for all Americans!!! (but of course, Republicans are fighting it)
Biden pardoned all prior federal offenses for simple possession of marijuana and started the review process to get weed rescheduled federally
provided hundreds of billions nationally in funding for the repair of roads/bridges/highways, expanding high-speed internet access, improving public transportation, adding electric vehicle charging, adding clean energy sources, removing pollution still leaking into communities from industrial manufacturing from DECADES ago, and REMOVAL OF LEAD PIPES not just on state land but on TRIBAL land and TERRITORIES!
cracked down on the (frankly, abusive) overdraft fees from banks - to the point that many banks have removed the fees outright rather than deal with an investigation from the federal government over them - and the last minute surprise fees from hotels/concert venues/etc.
They are working to change Social Security taxation so that those making above $400,000/yr actually have to fucking CONTRIBUTE - because, if you didnât know, currently Social Security taxes cap out at $160,000. Yes, meaning that those who are MOST ABLE TO AFFORD paying more taxes, and who would contribute MORE in taxes, are paying pennies (if anything).
Also, to increase the minimum SSA benefit from just a cut-and-dry figure that has to be manually increased (and is therefore subject to NOT getting increased), to a scaling percentage of 125% above the poverty line
Also, also, to increase benefits for surviving spouses who abruptly lose 50%+ of their income when a spouse dies, then are shit out of luck for paying for homes/vehicles/etc
Not only that but:
as many people who were vocally against it, they also made covid vaccines widely available and FREE for everyone during the pandemic
provided massive student loan debt relief
ENACTED A MINIMUM 15% CORPORATE TAX on large companies, who otherwise tend to skirt taxes with legally-gray methods
Rejoined the Paris Agreement - literally canât believe I even have to say that
are providing relief to veterans exposed to burn pits
reauthorized the Violence Against Women Act and added protections for LGBTQ+ individuals and non-women victims, changed it so it now allows tribes to now hold non-native aggressors liable under tribal justice systems, and improved long and short term housing for victims (as well as increased emergency housing access)
Iâm not going to say I agree with every action taken under the Biden-Harris admin (lol, looking at you specifically, IRS), but. These things change peopleâs lives. Not just a little - they are the difference between literally dying a slow death from lack of medication and living happily.  Between getting heart surgery and NOT getting heart surgery, because you donât have health insurance, because you just got out of prison for having one (1) molecule of weed stuck to your sleeve during a traffic stop. Election season is already starting, so if you have to remember one thing, remember this:
Adding to this list, the Biden-Harris administration has also:
Changed the Extra Help with Medicare Prescription Drug program, so that EVERYONE on Medicare who is under 150% of the federal poverty level can qualify for zero monthly premiums, zero deductibles, and capped prescription costs at $4.50 generic/$11.40 name-brand.
Provided $3.5 million in grants to expand internet coverage on and to tribal lands.
And $728 million to provide clean, sustainable drinking water to rural and tribal communities and support water and river conservation in the Colorado river basin.
Provided funding for the expansion of Medicaid, meaning that now 40 states offer a yearâs worth of health coverage after birth, so postpartum complications can be, y'know⌠treated without putting you into massive medical debt.
Demanded an additional year of coverage for childrenâs healthcare under CHIP, via the CAA of 2023, with a hopeful continuation even further under section 1115.
Invested $265 million across 16 states for natural disaster preparation and recovery, including streambank stabilization, flood prevention and watershed restoration projects.
And honestly, this administration has done so much more that I donât have time to list - with wide-ranging effects that wonât be fully felt for another few years, but are MONUMENTAL for our country, our healthcare, our environment, our jobs, and our futures.

leftist antisemites are really everywhere on this hellsite making & reblogging their posts like âthe Jews have too much power and privilege and actually their very recent genocide was not that bad compared to what my group experiences and antisemitism doesnât even exist in my country and especially not in liberal spacesâ
Goyim should reblog posts like this one instead of always only acknowledging antisemitism when it is about jk rowlingâs goblins or easy shit like that.
Challenge the antisemitism that is coming from inside the house. Be a little brave. Because you will lose followers for reblogging a post like this, because there are antisemites following you that think this way, and assume you do too.
the student loan forgiveness application site just went live btw
you're a lifesaver :')
here's the link:
https://studentaid.gov/debt-relief/application
It is also SUPER EASY, btw, in case youâre tempted to put it off because you think itâs going to involve digging up old passwords or financial information, or having to wade through a lot of complicated web forms -- it doesnât. Name, email, SSN, and bam, youâre done, youâre in the system, your application is processing.
