I’m chronically offline but Tumblr doesn’t count = I’m California sober.
compelled yesterday to make a zine about a lifetime of being a contrarian little shit sketched left-handed and inked right (ow)
New zine that's free for anyone to print and distribute! Read the whole thing at newlevant.com/COVIDzine or in the rest of this post.

Changing and growing is natural. You are not defined by your past self— it's okay that you made mistakes. You will continue to make mistakes. But you will also keep growing as a person and learning from those mistakes and becoming a more knowledgeable version of yourself every day.
Instead of going "but have you tried-" every time you meet a disabled person, assume competence. Assume that we've already done our research. Assume that we are knowledgeable about our condition(s). Assume that we are doing everything we can to manage our disabilities well.
something my mum always taught us was to look for the resources we're entitled to, and use them. public land? know your access rights and responsibilities, go there and exercise them. libraries? go there and talk to librarians and read community notice boards, find out what other people are doing around you, ask questions, use the printers. public records offices? go in there, learn what they hold and what you can access, look at old maps, get your full birth certificate copied, check out the census from your neighbourhood a hundred years ago. are you entitled to social support? find out, take it, use it. does the local art college have facilities open to the public? go in, look around, check out their exhibit on ancient looms or whatever, shop in their campus art supply store. it applies online too, there is so much shit in the world that belongs to the public commons that you can access and use if you just take a minute to wonder what might exist!!!
today was my mum's birthday, and I showed her that thousands of people were liking and sharing her advice. she was very moved and pleased, and wanted to add that you shouldn't just feel entitled to be in these spaces. you should feel at home. no matter who you are or what you're going through in any phase of life, public spaces and services belong to you.
one day you'll wake up and think, "life is okay". it'll happen gradually. you'll start to notice flowers blooming in a new light. your evening shower will be a sweet refuge. your morning coffee will warm your soul. things will seem bright and beautiful, and you'll wonder how you ever wanted to leave such lovely things behind

I think a new dispensary finally opened up next to me after a few years of living here. I finally understand the appeal of the bodega. We have a supermarket a block away. But I don’t have to drive to a dispensary anymore omfg 🥲🥲🥲 so thankful for where I am at vs 5 years ago.
I had a vision when I saw the new announcement for Ed in Street Fighter 6. This is all I could think about for his tier 3 Special, Psycho Chamber.
Something I shared with Ryo that I found humorous.

I don’t know what updates they made to Rocket Racing but now when people drive into me/hit me I - I SLOW DOWN! Why do I have to penalized like this?!?!
TFW your activities in photoshop can’t be made into an action so you’re just clicking around menus like a peasant.
It’s humiliating. I know exactly where all my buttons and features are and I wish I had a hot key string for this!

I have been having a lot of fun recently having a little extra that I can spend on clothing for myself.
My entire youth I dressed how my mom wanted me to dress. Now I have been able to throw out basically all the crap clothing she forced on me. I freeze in her cheap clothing that’s made for Florida weather. Last winter I froze having to double and triple layer my clothing and still shiver.
I now live in the cold so I get to buy myself cute long sleeves, thermals and sweaters she would hate me to buy. I now can buy blacks and greys liberally without care. It’s been like rediscovering what I loved about fashion when I was in high school. Reminds me of all the Japanese FRUITS magazines of all the street fashion. Those were my favorites.
We have been watching Yokai Watch Shadowside as a breakfast show. It’s starting to reference Japanese folklore at this point and I keep thinking to myself “where have I seen this story before”. And every time it’s just them refreshing classic stories. So impressive how they are able to pull like that and weave it into their story.
