okay, but “on my own” from les miserables and “drivers license” by olivia rodrigo are the same song in a different font.
theaters can begin to reopen april 2nd! hooray!
now that we have this good news, i have a suggestion to make:
a chorus line revival.
hear me out...
imagine it’s the first show you see when broadway reopens.
when zach says, “if today were the day you had to stop dancing. how would you feel?” then we hear “what i did for love” after we haven’t been able to perform for a year? ABSOLUTE TEARS.
here are a few moments in that song that would hit me like a truck:
“look my eyes are dry. the gift was ours to borrow.”
“love is never gone, as we travel on loves what we’ll remember.”
“kiss today goodbye and point me toward tomorrow.”
“we did what we had to do. won’t forget, can’t regret, what i did for love.”
then when the rest of the company joins morales at the end of the song. the entire audience would be sobbing.
ensemble members playing multiple roles in the same show.
You guys know Eponine’s Part in “One Day More”?
If you do not, it is:
“One more day all on my own. One more day with him not caring. What a life I might have known... but he never saw me there.”
Some may think that this line is referring to Marius, but after years of intensely studying Les Miserables I discovered that the end of this line (“what a life i might have known, but he never saw me there”) is actually referring to Jean Val Jean.
Now you might be saying “How did you figure that out? There is nothing in the text that makes that clear.”
But when you think about it, it makes a lot more sense than that line being directed at Marius.
Eponine remembers that Jean Val Jean is the man who took Cosette away when they were children. After that Cosette lived a wonderful life, and now has caught the eye of the man that she is in love with. However, Eponine’s life has fallen apart since then. “Cosette, now I remember. Cosette how can it be? We were children together, look what’s become of me...” ~ Eponine’s Errand (Act 1). She basically took Cosette’s role with the Thenardiers and has been mistreated her whole life since then.
In “One Day More” Eponine is really saying that she knows Marius does not love her, but perhaps if Jean Val Jean had taken her with/ instead of Cosette she would live a better life and would be able to gain Marius’ love.

Sure, sex is great, but you know that part in The Confrontation in Les Miserables when ValJean and Javert both say “JAVERT” at the same time?
They say you can’t hear photos, but-
When your sitting at Trina’s house for dinner and Jason says, “can you pass the salt, dad?” And Marvin, Mendel, and Whizzer all reach for it.
You know the part in “Love Is Blind” when Trina is explaining to Mendel that Marvin left her notes saying “will you be my Valentine?” And on that line, Marvin joins in, but is singing it to Whizzer? Yeah, me too.
