Step 1 - Post a job

Your job post lets our algorithm know what kind of candidates you want to be matched with. Fine tune things like experience, education, location, preferences and let us take care of the rest!

Step 2 - Check your Inbox for matches

Once you’ve created your first match, we’ll start delivering you matches twice a week (Monday/Wednesday). When you see a candidate you like, accept the match and send them a message. If not, just hit pass.

Step 3 - Get introduced to candidates!

When the candidate also accepts the match, we’ll make an introduction. You’ll also have all their information and be able to message them to schedule an interview right inside our platform.

That’s it! We designed Whitetruffle to be a super easy to use experience for employers.

Today we’re announcing the launch of Whitetruffle 2.0 which marks the beginning of our next iteration on Whitetruffle and building out a smarter and easier platform for people to find tech jobs.

Today, we have some very exciting news to share: Whitetruffle has been acquired by HackerX. Over the past 5 years, Whitetruffle has became a top destination for tech talent. Our system has created more than 50 million matches in 2015 alone. Many lives have been changed thanks to Whitetruffle and many more will be changed with this new partnership.  We learned a lot from all those interactions and we really wanted to bundle the Whitetruffle technology with a partner with a global presence who can help bring in even more companies and candidates. 

The HackerX team has built an amazing brand and platform by operating hundreds of physical recruiting events - bringing talented people together all over the world. Naturally, this aligned well with our mission and the synergies made a lot of sense. 

Whitetruffle will continue to thrive with most of the existing team behind it, joining the new company under our newly appointed CEO, William Hsu’s leadership.

We're really excited about this new chapter. We have amazing plans for 2016 and beyond, and are now in a great position to deliver on them with this new partnership. 

As you continue to navigate the Whitetruffle platform, I would like to share a few Best Practice tips for how process the Candidate Matches you have been receiving:

First, be sure to process matches daily - they expire after 3 days!

Feel free to send candidates a message on the platform right after you accept a Match with them - you don't have to wait until the candidate accepts the match with you!

Be careful to go through the matches slowly and read their profile thoroughly before passing or accepting to make sure that you get a full understanding of their background and work experience.

If you accidentally accept or pass on match you did not mean to, don’t stress! It happens all the time. I would be more than happy to revert the status of the match for you.

If you need to take a position down, or replace it, click into the position, and click on "Suspend", then "Save" - that will open up a slot for a new position.

As an active job seeker it is extremely important to make sure that your Whitetruffle profile provides a clear description of who you as both an employee and as an individual!

We have built the Whitetruffle Candidate Profile, to read like one part resume, one part personal site. Therefore it is equally as important to fill out the “About Me” sections as it is to complete the “Work History “ sections! Be sure to keep that in mind as you fill out your profile.

Below are a few of our Best Practices for Candidate profiles. Hopefully they will be helpful in better explaining the different parts of your profile, and make the most of it! Take a look over them and feel free to incorporate any of them into your personal profile!

EXAMPLES! Make sure examples of projects are posted to a public website somewhere, whether it's a repository like Github, or a personal website. Without a work history to verify with employers, this is really important. Give a general outline of the project (purpose, programs/skills used), as well as provide a link to the finished functioning product and code.

If you have Intern experience, list that in Work History. Be specific. What skills did you use/learn/projects worked on.

Sell yourself in About sections:  Why are you a catch, versus the thousands of other graduates of this year? Why are you a great personality to work with? What is your work ethic like? But also speak about your off-work self - what do you enjoy outside of work, what things are important to you, what are you passionate about? Sell yourself as a person, not just as a set of skills.  This section also shows your ability to communicate in writing.

Be sure to keep your profile updated as you change positions, complete additional projects, or learn a new skillset. Keeping your information up to date is an important part of positioning yourself with interested companies.

Messaging potential candidates is one of the most important parts of the Whitetruffle Process. In order to make your message stand out, I thought it would be helpful to share a few of our Best Practice tips with you! They can come in handy when learning how to effectively communicate with your future employees.

Read over our tips and then take a look over the image below! The image shows an actual message sent out to a candidate that got a very positive response!

One of the best ways to ensure engagement with candidates is to send messages that are concise, while also being personalized to their profile.

Be sure to mention something specific from their profile, to show that you have fully reviewed it! An easy way to do that is to list what is it in their experience that stands out for you!

A lot of candidates have the poor experience of being spammed by recruiters on other platforms, so some can be a little cautious if messages seem too vague or form-letter-like.

You're welcome to ask them to send you a copy of their CV, resume or portfolio etc,. Most candidates also provide a link to their LinkedIn profile, which you can find near the bottom of the match page!

Be sure to respond back to candidates promptly. If too much time goes by between messages, your perfect candidate might not be available anymore!

It is also important to let a candidate you have previously engaged with (either via messaging, interviews etc.)  if you have chosen to go in a different direction. It can be disconcerting to some to not hear back at all.

Don’t be surprised or concerned if you don’t get responses back from each candidate you accept! Once you reach out to them initially, they have the option to “accept/pass” on each match as well!

Full and engaging profiles =’s increased traction with potential candidates! Our historical data shows that companies with richer profiles have a much higher chance of being accepted by candidates, and we'd like to make sure we can help you source best possible talent.

Also, here are some Best Practice tips for what to include in your Company Page! Take a look over them, and feel free to incorporate them into your profile: 

In your “About” section, you could tell folks how much you have raised, and who your investors are. The amount you've raised is a good amount of funds and can help bring additional reassurance to any candidate that might be applying.

 Any positive press you've received can help a lot as well.  You can include that in your About section. The great thing about press is that it is a third party saying great things about you; not just you.  Which can be incredibly powerful.

Don’t hesitate to talk about key members of your management team, and their accomplishments. Everyone wants to join a team of collaborators and like-minded thinkers.

Feel free to talk about the difficult technical challenge involved in solving the problem you guys are tackling.  Nothing gets engineers excited like a good technical challenge.

A big part of the Whitetruffle user experience is our Inbox. It allows you to explore new matches, interact with candidates and easily communicate with your co-workers about potential future employees. Let’s take a look at the Inbox to see what it all means and how it will supercharge your talent search!

The first page you’ll see in your Inbox is the match list. Here, all of the matches you care about (such as new matches or new messages) are organized in one place for easy at-a-glance management. Each match is labeled with the job they’ve been matched with, along with their personal title or name, and status. We also show you several Top Candidates — the cream of the candidate crop.

From there, clicking on a match will bring you to their match page. Here, you will see more information about the candidate, such as their specialization, their skills (highlighted skills means they’ve been matched with your job), work history, and much more. Use this info to accept or pass the match — if accepted, you will be able to directly chat with them. You can also get feedback from colleagues by sharing the candidate with them and seeing what they have to say.

We heard you loud and clear. You can now share any match with your co-workers, not just the ones you were introduced to. We’ve made that change and it’s now live for everyone!

This is the second announcement this year already, but it's a really exciting one. Many companies have asked us for the ability to share a match with co-workers and today, we're very happy to introduce that new feature. 

You've been introduced to a candidate, and you want feedback from other employees at your company? Not a problem! Just click the "get feedback from colleagues" and Whitetruffle will ask them to provide feedback and compile it for you. 

Once you click the link, we'll show you a list of the people you asked feedback from, or are also users of your company Whitetruffle account. You can also add new people. Note that you can ask feedback from anyone in your company, it doesn't count against your seats. 

They will then receive a notification with a link to the match, and a thumbs up and down option, with a comment section if they wish to share their thoughts. 

Their feedback is compiled in the match for you, so you can easily have access to it. You can also hide it if you've already seen it and don't need it.

At Whitetruffle, we're really excited about 2015, and we decided to start the year with a full revamp of our desktop application. We've listened to many of the suggestions that companies and candidates sent us, and worked really hard to come up with an improved layout. Next time you login in Whitetruffle, you'll experience the new version. 

So what did we do? 

We unified the inbox. Your inbox is what you should pay attention to. It includes:

New matches

Matches with a message that need your response

Introductions for which you need to introduce yourself

And for paying subscribers, suggestions among our top candidates

The type of matches is easily identifiable by icons on the left of the match. 

We also made the menu simpler. Now, it's either "Inbox" or "Past". Much, much easier to navigate. 

If you're part of the many people who are actually using Whitetruffle on your phone or tablet, you'll notice huge improvements. We have many more news to come in that space, but we think you'll love the new version on your mobile device. 

We've also made many performance improvements. Some of you experienced browser specific bugs and delays, and we were able to identify most of those problems and fix them. 

Last but not least, you'll see that the site is cleaner, and it's much easier to get the info you need to make those big decisions. 

Over the past weeks, we've been hard at work to improve the Whitetruffle experience. 49K lines of code and 806 commits later, we're really happy to introduce "inbox", a huge improvement that will help you get the most of out Whitetruffle, like the thousands of companies and candidates who have already connected through us. 

After talking to many companies and candidates, we realized that you all wanted an easy way to identify the matches that needed your attention, and a fast solution to get in touch. 

With inbox, you'll see an "Open" folder in the navigation on the left. Similar to an email inbox, this will group all the matches that need your attention. 

The new Whitetruffle also brings messaging at the core of the experience. As soon as you accept a match, you can now message them right there, ask them a question or convince them to be introduced to you. Our goal is to connect companies and candidates, and we think a very easy messaging platform, anonymous for candidates, will enable many introductions and hires!

We're also introducing a "card" at the top of each match which summarizes why we think you should be connected. It shows the most important signals, which should help you decide whether or not to accept the match extremely quickly. Think of it as a smart business card, tailored to what you actually care about. This is actually really handy when you use Whitetruffle on your mobile phone. 

There are dozens of other improvements we brought to the Whitetruffle experience, such as an easier navigation, an easy access to trending candidates for bacon and prosciutto customers, more stats, much better performance etc... 

And of course, Whitetruffle is optimized to work perfectly on your desktop, your phone or your tablet! 

We're looking forward to hearing from all of you what you think about it, and how we can always improve. In the meantime, happy truffles hunting! 

Candidates looking for jobs often asked advice to their friends once they start talking to companies. Not publicly of course, but in private discussions. 

We wanted to make this very easy for candidates on Whitetruffle. We just launched a new feature called "Ask feedback" allowing you to send a job to your friend, and have them provide easy feedback on whether they think it's a good fit. 

You'll see a "Ask for feedback" link below the usual "Accept/Meet" or "Pass" buttons when you review a company. 

You then prompted to enter one of your friend email address, or send them a private message on Facebook or even copy and paste a unique URL. Your friends will see the full profile of the company and a feedback form like this: 

They can just click Yes, No or Maybe. They can also add their name and a few comments for you. All this will then appear when you review the match on your dashboard. 

All this is obviously private. At no time we post that information publicly. It's purely between you and the friend you selected.
