The snow whipped through her clothes and sent chills down to her bones. But she refused to stand down against him. The one who she believed might have been involved in her parents deaths. But as the opportunity arised to gain her vengeance, she felt hollow. But why? Wasn’t this supposed to be fulfilling? This was her destiny, wasn’t it?

She defied him and raised her saber close to her face, feeling the warmth against her cheek. A cold breath stung her lungs as she lingered on the question of what to do next. But eventually she decided to retract her saber.

His words should have stirred something inside her. Anger, determination, heart ache, anything other than this. She knew he was right, that the war would never end. But air grew tight in her lungs as she refused to agree with him.

Her saber hummed as she grew quiet. Falling snow sizzled on the white hot beam which still hovered close to his throat. “You don’t know anything about me.” She wanted to growl at him and lunge forward, see how easily the saber would melt through his core. Maybe killing him would help her sleep at night. But he was right and her soft tone only gave that away.

                    So lost in a thought, as though she wasn’t even there — it had been that way for the past few days. Kaydel was sure she would have been just as   LOST   if it had been her on Vera’s place, desperately trying to figure out how to let it all sink in, how to process the information she had gotten about her parents. It was a heavy burden, would’ve been for anyone :  but this fact alone wasn’t quite enough to wipe the worry away, for it still made her heart feel so very heavy. She wanted to help, to find a way to lighten up the one who seemed to be   DROWING   to a dark place and shutting herself away from others    (  the empty gaze that had taken over her features was more than worrisome  ).    She was nobody to judge one for wanting to keep everything to themselves, thinking it was a better way of coping than talking about their worries to those who they considered trustworthy.  In some cases it was probably for the best, probably, but it saddened her deeply to see the other female in such condition, not knowing what to do or say in order to ease the pain.

                   Deep down Vera must’ve known very well what was best for her, and that Kaydel shouldn’t get involved more than she   ALREADY  had — yet there was this level of empathy which was her constant companion. No pity, but a simple wish to make it all a less painful. Although a little act of affection wouldn’t heal the harm, would it offer a momentary comfort. While Vera was still sitting beside her, lost in her own mind, took the younger one a hold of Vera’s hand. For someone who was quite strict about her privacy and rarely showed any kind of affection very openly, was holding a hand somewhat exciting. It couldn’t be said that she knew what it exactly was she felt for Vera, but it was safe to say she   CARED   for her very deeply. She leaned closer and planted a soft kiss right above other’s temple.

The recycling of words and imagery rattled through her head. Her bones felt hollow and they ached just thinking about how suddenly alone she was. This whole entire galaxy and she was alone. Through her exhausting days of training that seemed to never end, she held onto the thought that this will all be worth it. Yes, in the end she will see her parents again and it wall all be worth it. But now...
