📒 [Yellow Notebook]

Whumper making notes in a little Yellow Notebook... How did Whumpee react to that particular torture? How long did it take them to recover? What techniques do they dislike the most? What makes them tick?

Whumpee's old diary... Can whumpee even remember what their life was like before they were captured? Do their idealistic hopes and naive worries seem alien now that their dreams are shattered and they know the meaning of true horror? Are their past words used to mock them as they're tortured, or are they reading them after they escaped? How does it make them feel?

A book with particularly nasty techniques... Whumper uses them when Whumpee has upset them in some way, whilst Whumpee learns to hate the colour yellow.

⛓️ [Chains]

Defiance burns in the eyes of the Whumpee bound by chain, shackled by the wrists and ankles. They strain and pull against the lengths of chain that rattle and slam against the ground to no avail, forced to a jerking halt mere inches from where Whumper stands watching them.

Suspended from the ceiling a captured angel is swathed in thick black chains, wings pinned to it's sides painfully. No amount of struggling can set it free though blood stains it's feathers red from the attempt. Hopelessness has dulled it's once beautiful eyes.

A Fey bound in chains of iron that burns into their skin with every breath. Their head spins, their lungs burn, their heart stutters in their chest, poisoned by the iron.

🏇 [Horserider/Horse and Jockey]

A grim bet... Has someone bet a lot of money on this horse, whumpee has no choice but to win for fear of what may happen if they don't. Both horse and rider are running for their lives...

Injured by a horse... Trampled, kicked, bitten; all the interesting risks of the powerful hoofstock. What implications could that injury have? Why did they get injured in the first place?

Escape! Whumpee has stolen a horse, fleeing across the open plains, pushing the horse to it's limits in a desperate hope to finally flee.

Falling from a horse... Whumpee screams as they hit the floor from the explosion of pain through their side, before it all goes black.

🔥 [Fire/Flame]

An iron poker glowing cherry red, wreathed in the flames of the sconce it rests within. It would be beautiful, that light, were it not a terrifying promise of the pain to come.

The agonising pain as a torch is held to restrained flesh, the bubbling and blacking, the sickly sweet scent of burning flesh whilst all Whumpee can do is scream.

Trapped in a burning building, Whumpee coughs and coughs, crawling through rooms blackened by smoke, eyes stinging, lungs burning, praying they can find a way out before the fire reaches them.

🍽 [Empty Food Plate/Plate and Cutlery]

Poverty... Can Whumpee even remember their last meal, struggling as they are to make ends meet? Baggy clothes hanging from a loose frame, a shivering cold and a belly cramped from a hunger that never ends.

Whumper starving Whumpee to study the effects, or withholding food to control. After a while, Whumpee becomes pliant in the hopes they may finally get a meal as their strength begins to fail them.
