C.S. Lewis, my hypothetical best friend and non-hypothetical favorite writer, struggled with the clumsiness of his body. This, I learned last week, is partially why he loved to write. It was a beautiful, easy escape.
For some reason, this is a very calming reminder to me that even those I look up to most struggle(d) with daily things, like the body beneath their mind and the food on their plate.
If you’re recovering/ wanting to recover from an ED, make sure to tuck a little notebook or drawing pad or favorite book in your pocket today. And don’t be afraid to excuse yourself to go read/ write/ draw for a moment if you need to, even if it’s during the thanksgiving meal.
xoxo
