#one thing about me is i'm gonna smash that holy ground button

what i love the most about purple is how she not only metaphorically exemplifies two people's lives blending together indiscernibly, but also does so in the very composition of the song with those pronounced multilayered vocals. yes, she has layered vocals and choirs come in at times on other songs across the album, but for once the ENTIRE song purple is layered. and they're more spread out than other layered vocals, filling out the left and the right fully when you listen in headphones, like you can't tell where she's coming or going. unable to discern which one is the real her, as in the conflict of the song, just a fluid, enmeshed blend of voices. i'm such a sucker for those musical manifestations of a song's central plot, looooooove it so much.

#really really cool production choices happening on this album that are so immersive and effective #lyricism is only 50% of a song!!! ALL SWIFTIES SHOULD KNOW THAT BY NOW #anyway really great showing by olivia on some of these songs like wow what a audio treat they are to pick apart #i'm not really all that bothered by the reuse of the halsey metaphor if only because olivia OWNS purple in pop spaces right now lol #so i'm like yeah fine let her have it
