I'm trying to process the Camille quest HAHA god. I need to build fanfic writing confidence
His doomed sibling relationship with Char is everything to me...the sauce of it all...I really enjoyed that while Camille was trying to be a protective older brother, Char misread his intentions either from low self-esteem or pride and thought his brother was looking down on him, and while he does have some attachment to or possessiveness regarding his brother it's been twisted by resentment and anger...
It's especially interesting that seemingly a pretty important prophecy was hidden from Camille in particular and not Charâand despite Char doing everything to lean into the prophecy, he also seems to be railing against it in his own way...it'd be kind of interesting for him to be trying to protect Camille in some twisted way by destroying the people he thinks have set them up like lambs for slaughter, but rather than him doing it while being secretly a good guy, I like. He does want to protect his brother but he also enjoys being able to torment him like this, if it makes sense? Char wants Camille wrapped up in their hellish game etc etc, I don't usually go for disastrous yandere brocon but Char REALLY sounds like he's in jealous disbelief that Camille made a friend LOL
Like Char Really went out of his way to recreate the moment he and Camille fought and the way he laughs in the cutscene where Camille has him pinned...his expression and how Camille still hesitates to kill him...the "aren't you lonely brother?" "Come to my side, big brother" oh my god
When I was going thru his recreation of all his childhood agonies And the replica of their childhood house I was like "bro what is your PROBLEM" but that cutscene oh my god he has EVERY problem for real
And on Camille's end bro the agony of trying to be a good older brother and not realizing that your little bro wasânot even on the wrong page, in a whole other book, trying to protect him and hearing that he thought you were condescending him the entire time and that he thought he wasn't as beloved by your parents AUGH. And their parents are dead! They can't answer questions! And Camille saved his life because of course he would, that was the only family he had leftâand realizing the miracle that was Char's survival has become a kind of curse because of what Char has done since then with the power that Camille gave him....the agonies man, the voice acting in this story quest was so good haha
Camille keeps saying that Char is dead to him but part of him still caring because it's not that simple...him being the older sibling and thus responsible as both his brother and his vampiric sire is so good HAHA the! Lore of the key accessory! (Char uses it against him wrt Camille breaking the music box in the first place but the fact that he made it into a key for Camille so he can always go home, when the young Camille was always losing his house keys....augh....) (this is in one of Camille's voice lines)
Not sure where to include it but lmao when they reveal the surveillance cameras and the one-way mirror i was like NOT THE STALKER ROOM (bro with EVERY PROBLEM)
It's already pretty good as a doomed sibling relationship normal platonic style but (and I'm seriously saying this as someone who doesn't really go for this usually) Char Seriously feels to me like a yandere brocon that wants to murder and/or possess Camille in all ways possible LOL (his reaction to being pinned down by Camille. Oh my god. I am a little sad he did it with someone else's face but it still worked)
(I thiiiink the suspicious undertone is one-sided on Char's part because I don't get the same vibe from Camille but that's just my take on it HAHA) (Camille has problems and Char is so many of them)
I think if Char turns out to secretly be an agonized good person as I've seen someone suggest (possible evidence being that no one actually died in his quest) then I will accept it but I'll be a little baffled LOL I want the bros to be a fiery disaster. It's possible Char is making himself hateful so it will hurt Camille less to kill him but I don't think that's entirely it
Alsooo the vibes between Endmin and Camille are excellent LOL the fucking hand holding scene at the end. I am honestly attached to Wulfgard/Endmin but a very good case has been made for Camille/Endmin (Wulfgard/Camille/Endmin poly is also a fun concept to be sure) (somewhat curious if I can run an Endmin, Wulfgard, Rossi, and Camille team bc I like playing Endmin tbh) (the in-universe implication of Rossi fourth-wheeling this situation is extremely funny)
Camille/Wulfgard crack ship is also good I think Camille would be able to empathize with being betrayed by someone the way Wulfgard was betrayed by Giovanni & the pain of knowing that the boy you knew has become a stranger (altho Wulfgard managed to kill him while Camille is still hunting)
This got longer than I meant it to LOL I hope I am....coherent enough?
My agonies man, I am too much of a weenie to be as dark and bloody as one-sided Char/Camille would deserve (Char's feelings being one-sided in all respects would be funny in a grim way) (not only the mess of possessive resentment but the fact that he read their upbringing/situation in a wholly different way from Camille)
