It’s not when Johnny tells Frankie his heart stops when he looks at her, it’s not when he kisses her scar and swears his undying love, it’s not when he calls the late night radio show to request an encore of the piece of music she liked. It’s not even the part where they brush their teeth by the window as the sun rises (pictured above), though I love that one too.  It’s actually a lot simpler, and I guess that’s why it stuck with me. Johnny is at Frankie’s place. As she gets ready for bed, she is routinely rubbing body lotion onto her arms in the most hurried, unseductive manner possible, not paying any heed to his presence. He, however, looks at her in awe, as if she were some sort of goddess, and says: “There’s gotta be something in this world better than watching you do that, but I’ll be damned if I know what it is.” “Yeah, sure,” she scoffs. He insists, “No, I’d put it up there. It’s a vision; inspired spectacle. I’d put it up there with the Grand Canyon, mother nursing her child… triumphant facts of nature.” “Have you ever been to the Grand Canyon?” she asks as she tidies up the room, and the conversation smoothly continues.
