starting over

This is helpful for me to read as a therapist because it helps put into context some of the stuff my younger clients tell me. I'm only 35, so not old old but my social media is 90% cocktail recipes and 10% friends so I'm not really dialed into what terminally online people are thinking outside of Reddit. Whenever a client under the age of 25 says "everyone is saying X," my first reaction is usually "I have never heard X, and X frankly sounds completely unhinged, and also the main proponent of X, whom you refer to as a 'celebrity,' seems to be a naked man who lives in a garden shed."

Context: I had a student who worked under me for a while and one time we were preparing a new set for filming and I was collecting fake flowers to put them in a vase and he, in front of everyone, told me that we don’t need any fake flowers when I’m the orchid of our office

I have a friend I know from when we were both 6. She is the only person living nearby and so she saw me go from walking through limping to wheelchair on a daily basis. I keep her updated on my health even tho we rarely hang out anymore. She was gonna come over yesterday and I had to cancel. She asked if I can’t hang out later that day. When I said i won’t feel better later, that if I feel that bad in the morning later will only get worse she got annoyed and “joked” that I’m just finding excuses. And I was surprised, she knows all about me being disabled after all? So, a bit taken aback, I told her it’s a normal thing for me.

“But you got the diagnosis now, aren’t you better?? I thought you’ll get better now”

Right now, I currently owe my one doctors office $1,346.01 from the trial for this implant. It is a bill that I most urgently need paid off so that I can then focus on the hospital bills from my surgery. I need this paid off this month (August) so that they will continue to help me as I recover and then calibrate my implant (which will take some time).
