...And I'd written a script to which she'd (executive) said we don't get first drafts like this. This is 75% of the way there. And then she started telling me what we wanted to do with the script, and I said to her, let me explain, I cannot do that because I don't know how to sit down at my desk to make the script worse. - John Cleese (Talks at Google)
In order to know how good you are at something requires almost exactly the same skills and aptitude as it does to actually be good at it. Which means that if you're absolutely no good at something, you lack exactly the skills and aptitudes that you need to know that you're no good at it. The worse you are, the less chance you have of knowing how good you are at something.
- John Cleese (Talks at Google)
"Ar nugyventi metai yra argumentas diskusijoje? Ne.
- Leonidas Donskis
I reject any form of participation in any award, as a participant or jury member. Most of the design awards are neither judging how design should be judged, nor are beneficial for the designers or the design culture in general. It is an endogamic business, perverting a social activity.

Choose the first idea. You start from a single idea, you think maybe this is better, or I can make it better this way, then you go all the way and you end up in the first idea. So when you get lost in the project – choose the first idea, because it's the correct one.

Passion is your greatest love. Passion is the thing that will help you create the highest expression of your talent. Passion, interest – it's not the same thing. Are you really going to go to your sweetie and say: Marry me! You're interesting.

You don't have to understand life. You just have to live it.

It’s not what you look at that matters. It’s what you see.
Henry David Thoreau
The only thing that’s capital-T True is that you get to decide how you’re gonna try to see it. This, I submit, is the freedom of a real education, of learning how to be well-adjusted. You get to consciously decide what has meaning and what doesn’t. You get to decide what to worship.
David Foster Wallace | This Is Water
The really important kind of freedom involves attention, and awareness, and discipline, and effort, and being able truly to care about other people and to sacrifice for them, over and over, in myriad petty little unsexy ways, every day.

Unconsciousness are the flashing of ideas, images or thoughts that usually comes when one’s attention is demanded elsewhere. These ideas remain at the edge of consciousnesses and Freud theories that these ideas are merely recycled from our ordinary experiences. Freud’s The Interpretation of Dreams (1904) would further investigate this new domain where he would discover that what most considered fantasy or prophesy was merely the exotic and chaotic nature of dreaming.
John Cleese in his speech on creativity mentions something he calls the ‘open mode’ in which people are able to achieve creative thinking. This open mode is not too different from Freud’s theory. Cleese explains that our mind is not so willing to be creative when we focused on the tasks of everyday life. The ‘open mode’ which Cleese talks about is almost like an unconscious mind that allows us to play with ideas and come up with original and creative solutions.
