Newport Beach is a literate original character roleplay and every character that is portrayed has been created by the members themselves. We aim to cultivate a welcoming environment for our players to develop their characters and further improve their writing skills. This roleplay does not follow any particular storyline. I just wondering but how do you admins feel about having some older characters/faces in the groups? Maybe later 30s and early 40s? Maybe even later in age?

Give them to us! I’m a big fan of having older muses and it’s unfortunate that they aren’t used as much in the community. Thinking of having well established, older characters takes me back to the good ol’ days of the soap opera roleplay where they were high in demand. In short, yes — we’d be happy to have them!

FRIENDS, HIT THAT PLAYLIST!

Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti! Okay, we promise that we aren’t going to sing for you all but if you’ve caught on already, our first task at Westlake will be a PLAYLIST. What we love about having a playlist task is it allows our members to be creative and use some of your favorite songs for your muses. Although tasks are highly encouraged to further improve character development, they are OPTIONAL. So have no fear if you do not have enough time to accomplish a task, there will be plenty more down the road! You can hold us to that.

Make sure you tag your task with: #westlake: media.

Include a minimum of eight songs but you are always welcome to add more songs!

Cover art is optional. If you’d like to add one, you’re welcome to do so and feel free to be creative! Any graphic (moodboard, spotify cover aesthetic, etc.) you feel will make your character shine and describe them.

Check out Westlake’s September Playlist if you are having any problems and need inspiration.

And, tasks are as simple as that! This is just the beginning of more tasks coming everyone’s way! There will be plenty of exciting things happening at Westlake. We can’t wait to share them all with you. As Westlake is your home, just much as ours, if you ever have a task suggestion — do not hesitate to send us an IM with your ideas. We can’t wait to see your tasks! If you have read over everything, make sure to hit that heart so the admins know.
