iwaizumi is a blanket hog.

he does it unconsciously, in the dead of night when you’re on the brink of sleep. he always falls asleep a little faster than you and rolls over, arm curled into the duvet, leaving you with barely enough blanket to comfortably cover your body.

(you’d complain, if it wasn’t absolutely absolutely adorable to see iwaizumi hajime, a strong and surly trainer to pro athletes, collecting and clutching the sheets around him like a child)

and he’s so strong that even in his sleep, you can’t loosen the blanket from his grasp. he’s such a deep sleeper that your little whines don’t have any effect on him. so you’re forced to huddle closer, especially in the autumn and winter months, basically tucking yourself into his side for warmth.

it’s how you tend to wake up— pressed tightly to the broad expanse of his chest or shoulder, with his arms draped loosely around you, trapping you on his side of the king-sized bed.

you’ve already tried it all. tried getting bigger blankets and tucking your end under the mattress. you’ve tried turning up the furnace a little and even tried stealing them yourself.

it never works, and you always end up pressed against him, a tangle of limbs and bedsheets.

“what is that?” iwaizumi questions tonight, staring distastefully at the thing in your arms.

“it’s the throw blanket from the couch,” you hum, smoothing it over your lap. “it’s supposed to get cold tonight.”

he’s looking at you as if you’d just betrayed him. “so?”

“just thought it’d be nice to have an extra, that’s all,” you shrug, pressing a quick kiss to his cheek before switching off your lamp. “goodnight, baby.”

he huffs a little, muttering something under his breath that prompts you to kick him before he switched off his own lamp. the rustle of the duvet being dragged over to his side of the bed makes you snicker before you drift off.

yet when you wake up uncomfortably cold, you blearily look over your shoulder to see your fluffy little throw blanket trapped under iwa’s arm.

“hajime,” you whine quietly, tugging lightly on a corner

he doesn’t answer, but when he silently opens the blanket to you, you simply sigh and shuffle closer, curling into his chest like a cat seeking warmth.

with your head tucked under his chin, iwaizumi just smirks. stealing blankets was never an unconscious nocturnal habit.
