Scott: I love that theory that they were giant chickens. I mean it offends the seven year old Jurassic Park fan in me but y'know. It's an interesting thought for sure.

Scott: Why didn't you?

Tabitha: True-- the movie would not have been the same at all if that were the case. But it does sound entertaining. Can you imagine being chased around by a giant chicken, then?

Tabitha: I did consider it. I suppose I turned it down when I was offered a position at the Ministry. I wanted to make a difference for people like me; like my father did for me. Not as much fun, I suppose, but I like to think that it's making a bigger difference in the long run.

Robbie: Tab, he showed me the message, and I honestly don't think I've seen the kid ever be so straight forward about how he was feeling. This isn't me trying to start a fight, sometimes a kid just needs to talk and have someone they trust listen. Even just being as straightforward as 'I don't know how to help but if you need someone to talk through it with, I'm here' is better than 'I suggest therapy.' Because, even to me, someone who /does/ know you, that sounds dismissive. Besides, I guess it's not even a matter of knowing us? We're the ones that are poised to be the ones that they look up to, y'know, the ones they /want/ to come to first. That's just part of being a teacher right? You're a part time guidance counselor too.

Robbie: You could always invite them here, couldn't you? I don't think McGonagall would be opposed to that, she knows how rough of a time it is right now.

Robbie: I meant the idea, mostly. It was a craze in America to burn 'witches' at the stake. Which, I guess it is different, but still. And yeah, it is a nightmare. Besides, if it was a surprise attack, I'm not sure how they'd be able to get a picture anyways. Unless there's something far more sinister going on.

TabiText: If that's the case, then as a coworker and friend, I'm having trouble not finding offense, honestly. You read the message and thought it was inappropriate, but rather than reach out to me about it, you just let him think I was dismissing him and let _me_ think that the reason he shut me out me was because of what I said, not how I said it? So it feels like either you believed I was that callous or you don't care about what quality of "guidance counselor" I am.

TabiText: There isn't going to be time, Robbie. They're both going to be all but completely booked over the holidays.

Roxanne: I'm happy you are too. It's sad that not everyone got to see it.

Roxanne: The...the ones who did attack people....did they mean to? Even if it was just a one off thing? Or was it just an accident...

Roxanne: Ah...I suppose that makes sense. Is there a reason you stay on school grounds instead of flooing home?

Roxanne: I'm sorry I'm asking all these questions. I'm being terribly nosy.

TabiText: Well, we can make sure that their sacrifices weren't in vain. Remus Lupin received the Order of Merlin, First Class for his services during the war, and what he represented to the students he taught and the public in general is hugely important.

TabiText: You mean before? There were some that did it on purpose,like Fenrir Greyback. They were angry and malicious towards fellow wizards, and sought to cause as much destruction as they could. Others, I imagine, were on accident: especially before Wolfsbane Potion became more accessible, you could really only depend on yourself, and maybe those closest to you, to help you restrain yourself during transformations.

TabiText: With so many qualified wizards around, and the Castle built as it is, it's arguably more secure for me to transform here. And practical, to be frank. Considering how out of sorts I become before and after the full moon, it's easier to simply stay where I am.

Scotty: Still, it's a cool piece of architecture.

Tabitha: Yeah. I mean, it's well-constructed, certainly.

Tabitha: Maybe dinosaurs would, too. Maybe instead of roaring, they actually puttered and clucked just like their chicken descendants, eating giant bugs.

I’m sure you do, Mr. Malfoy-- you’ve got the character for it.  And Mr. Potter and Nott are excellent characters as well.  Me?  No, it’s fine.  I certainly had my share of trouble during school, certainly-- there were definitely more than a few persons who didn’t appreciate my presence.  The ones that were easy to resolve were more the rivalries, I feel.  Once you’ve graduated, who was the better Quidditch player or smarter student really doesn’t matter as much, especially if you run back into each other in the real world.  In fact, you more often  tend to appreciate having them on your side, since you know what they’re capable of.

Oh she has to be able to appreciate ambition. What house do you think you would have been in if you hadn’t been in Slytherin?

And apparently Third Year Transfiguration completely escaped your notice, as he is listed on the Registry that was recommended reading when you learned about Animagi?  It’s true though, that he doesn’t like to bring it up for casual conversation.

How awful!  I certainly hope not-- hundreds of years of becoming acquainted with the youth of the wizarding community, I would hope that they’d never be tired of imparting wisdom, or at least catching up on any gossip.  I personally still find them quite entertaining, but perhaps that’s because I’m older and have less excitement in my life.

I agree-- makes you feel a bit of sympathy for Hagrid especially, doesn’t it?  I’ll admit, I enjoy the adventure most of the time, but my work is a bit more play than work compared to others.  I hope you decide to stay, Professor-- it’s nice to have some younger blood around.  But it’s definitely different than the Ministry, I agree.  This is my third year working at Hogwarts, so I suppose I’m still learning in a lot of ways.  I agree: it was good to go out and see the world a bit, but I did miss this place.

Roxanne: That doesn't seem fair. It's good that things have gotten so much better. I'm sorry if this is offensive but are werewolves like Fenrir Greyback rare then? The ones that like to turn people, I mean.

Roxanne: What kind of assistance would they provide if — if something were to go wrong? Or the potion was brewed incorrectly?

Roxanne: That's good. Are you...aware when you're transformed, then? That's what wolfsbane potion does, yes...?

TabiText: Discrimination never is. But yes, I'm proud to be part of the generation that's made such strides as we have.

TabiText: Honestly, Ms. Weasley, I don't know. I worked in the Beasts and Beings division for quite a few years, and have helped numerous persons in the Werewolf Support Services. I've met angry and frustrated werewolves, some of whom had attacked people, but none that were purposely infecting others like that. I like to think that because the Ministry's efforts to treat werewolves like people has certainly helped.

TabiText: Both the Headmistress and Professor Clarington are qualified to confront a werewolf in its shifted form, and as I'm familiar with them both, it should provide some appeasement to my animal self. More importantly, they would be able to maintain the spells that reenforce the door. No one but them can remove the locks while I'm inside. If the potion is incorrectly concocted, then everything in the classroom is reparable or replaceable.

Robbie: And I’m not saying that the therapy suggestion was wrong, but a kid decides to open up to you, it’s not exactly the most comforting to hear that right off the bat. It feels dismissive and leaves them with the thought of ‘well if the person I /trust/ doesn’t want to help, why would a stranger?’ And I’m fine, honestly.

Robbie: As far as having a castle over their heads, no, they’re not as secure. But I trust your dad almost more than anyone to be able to take care of himself, and your Mom knows how to keep her head down. Have faith in them, they’ll be okay.

Robbie: I’m assuming it was a rendering, it honestly wouldn’t surprise me if they had one on file, because I’m pretty sure I’ve seen it in a book before. It’s not as if this was the first time in history this had happened. It’s still unsettling, though. It’s the 21st century, stake burnings shouldn’t be something we actually have to worry about again.

TabiText: I did ask him, but between his blase attitude, his temper tantrums, and his normal lows, it's hard to tell when he's genuinely reaching out and when he's just venting. It's especially difficult in some ways, because if he feels like that suggestion is me blowing him off, then how well can he possibly know me, which just proves I'm not the right person for him to talk to? But you're right- maybe I should have approached him about it earlier, when McGonagall allowed for his dog on grounds. Okay; I'm trusting you on that.

TabiText: I know-- this just feels like an awful start to the holidays, and I hate that I won't get to see them.

TabiText: You're asking why people dig a chiseled bod, sharp jaw, and eyes that pierce the soul? I need to get you a trashy romance novel. Plus, who doesn't have a weakness for guys that are good on a broom? You should talk to McGonagall-- ask her how cats flirt, so you don't do it again ;)

TabiText: Guy had some solid movies, but when he got to make his own calls, you could tell he was just kind of a one trick pony. I have no sympathy.

Robbie: I'm not sure why I'm the only one seeing the self-destruct and taking it as the cry for help that it is. He's not a kid that reaches out often. And it's not, my life is still perfectly in tact.

Robbie: Ah, that's a fair thought, honestly, I hadn't thought of that. Just stay low, Tab. There's no reason for people to turn to that, especially seeing that it's Muggles behind the attacks. I hope it won't come to that.

Robbie: I saw a witch on a stake, something that should never happened. Why, was there something else? What was it?

TabiText: I get that it's a cry for help. I also understand that he's got a lot of problems and I'm not equipped to help him with that. Hence the therapy recommendation. I may not have experience losing a family member, but I am well-versed in feeling angry and alone. There's something to be said for talking someone who is trained in coping mechanisms. And I wasn't saying abandon him; I was just saying make sure you're still taking care of you.

TabiText: I know-- I'm sure they're just paranoid. Honestly, as much as I understand their concern, I'm more worried about them. Dad has a direct connection to the muggle Prime Minister, and Mum travels through Muggle London often. McGonagall isn't going to let anything happen to me, but I just don't feel they're as secure.

Robbie: He's feeling alone, Tab. His dad just died, he constantly feels as though his friends are turning him away; if I can give him a place where he feels safe and not as alone, I'm chill with that. Believe it or not, he's fairly reserved. Just comes in and reads a book more often than not, though sometimes we'll talk, play a board game or two.

Robbie: I'm fine. I'm more concerned about these attacks, and now a burning at the stake? Like really?

TabiText: There's feeling alone and then there's being self-destructive, Robbie. I suggested a therapist and he shut me out beyond superficial conversation. I'm glad he's got a safehaven with you, but I just want to make sure taking him on isn't taking up your life.

TabiText: Yeah. Dad sent an owl just to make sure I was staying here. He's worried that if the community starts pulling in it may go back to ostracizing the "others", if you take my meaning. They'd rather I wasn't vulnerable somewhere that wasn't well-fortified until things get resolved.

Robbie: It'll be nice, I think. Quiet Christmas.

TabiText: I hope so.

TabiText: I mean, considering everything that's happened lately, I just assumed that he was exclusively leaning on you. And with how often he's sneaking off to your office...I just want to make sure you're taking time for your own well-being while looking after his.

Robbie: I'm going to be home for Christmas Day, but otherwise, no. Not anymore.

TabiText: Oh. Well, we'll be happy to have you about, anyways.
