she should have felt more at ease when he made his stance on magic clear. he was not wrong, magic was nothing if not a curse upon the user as well as the target. but so many years of people using her power for their own gain left her unable to trust any at their word alone. instead she cannot help the anxiety bubbling in her stomach when he tells her she should be proud of who she is. her pupils narrowing though she gives no other indication that she was uncomfortable with this topic.Β
β not many realize the burden of it. guess you got to experience first hand, right? first hand or second hand?Β β she pries with only mild curiosity. perhaps to make him as uncomfortable or perhaps to satiate her own nerves by learning why he thinks she should be proud of her burdens.Β β my powers are what they are. itβs not something Iβd call a gift, butβ¦ I guess youβre right that not a lot of people can just do magic like mine. β all power, no matter how small, comes with its burdens. realizing that when you have so much is the sign of wisdom. β perhaps he didn't have magical prowess that was granted to him at birth. never went through the kind of life that particular burden would grant. still, any one who leads others as a warrior knew what a burden power was. it was quite the heavy load.
β it was a man using his knowledge of magic that brought me and my clan here to this time. where we do not belong. β suppose they belonged there now. they had found a path for themselves, a home to protect. and had grown accustomed to the new time they found themselves in.
