I know we talk about this one but I just want to add: Neil casually eating lunch while asking nonchalantly, in public, if his uncle has any local hitmen, then going back to the conversation like nothing happened. I love seeing through Jean’s eyes because it’s so easy for Neil to just gloss over his violent tendencies, which in turn makes it easy for the reader to also gloss over.
