Izuku had given you no reason to suspect that he was even thinking of any other person other than you. He had always been reassuring and loving towards you, never giving you even the slightest hint of doubt.

I mean you could have said the same thing about Katsuki, but you didn't want to think about that.

Your husband let out a laugh as he moved back to his closet. "Oh yah, we'll definitely have to go golfing with them in Florida, it goes well with diplomatic relations." You let out a loud cough. Izuku turned his head moving to look over the edge of the doorway out of the walk in closet to look at you. He blinked. "Hey, so I got to go finish packing. I'll see you in an hour." He finally put down the phone and stepped out with a gentle smile as he stood there oblivious. "Hey Y/N, what's up?"

"Why are you packing your suitcase Izu?" You asked motioning to his All Might suitcase on the bed.

He turned to his suitcase with a look almost as if realising it was there for the first time. You saw his eyes close as he squeezed his eyes realising something. He covered his face with his eyes with a groan. "Holy All Might, I forgot to tell you." His voice was muffled by his hands as he dragged them down his face. He sighed as he dropped his hands and looked at you with a pained expression. "Sorry baby, but I'm heading to New York."

Your eyes widened. "New York? Like the United States of America, New York?" You asked clarifying.

"Yah." He let out clearly knowing he was wrong for not telling you.

"When are you going?"

He seemed to shrink in on himself. "My flight leaves in 4 hours."

Your eyes flew open drastically in shock. "FOUR- IZUKU!"

"I know, I know!" He said putting his hands out in defense. "But I have a ProHero summit with other superheroes from G7 countries I'll only be gone for a week." He explained as if it made it any better.

Your arms folded over your chest. He could not be serious, you knew he was sometimes forgetful but not to tell you was atrocious. You scowled. "And when exactly where you going to tell me?"

"I was going to tell you eventually."

"When? While you are on your private jet?!" You asked motioning to the side. "Do you even know what day it is in 2 days?!"

Izuku paused as he tried to think about it. "Monday?" He asked confused with a shrug.

At his clear ignorance your face fell. To think that you'd finally see it. The day that your husband did not care about enough to remember, enough to prioritise.

You took a step forward with a scowl on your face. "It's your son's birthday." You spat out lowly, anger dripping over every syllable.

Immediately he froze at the words. Birthday? Was it already June?

He squeezed his eyes shut. "Damn it. I forgot."

"Clearly you freaking forgot, Izuku. Now cancel you're trip so you can be here."

"I can't just cancel a trip for a birthday Y/N." He sighed as he rubbed his eyes with his fingers.

Your eyes widened. Even in the dim light of your bedroom, he could see every ounce of your rage written on your face. "Toshinori is turning three! It isn't just a birthday, Izuku."

Izuku let out a groan as he dropped his hands. "He won't even remember it."

"What does it matter that he won't even remember it! It matters to him! He's our son! All our friends and their children are going to be there. Toshinori is excited to have his dad be there!"

"I am the Number One ProHero of this country, Y/N." He said putting his hands together as he tried to communicate it to you, he was trying not to raise his voice alongside you but it was getting harder to do so. "I can't make it for every birthday and slumber party!"

"It's not about the party!" You shouted. "It's about being there for your son! It's about being here with me!" You stated a hand to your stomach. "I'm-"

"Y/N, I can't do this right now. I have a flight to catch and these are important relationships that determine more than just us." He said turning around to grab his travelling bathroom bag. "I'm doing this for us."

"WHY WON'T YOU LISTEN TO ME!" You shouted at him.

"BECAUSE YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND THE SACRIFICES I HAVE TO MAKE FOR MY DREAM!" He shouted back turning back to you with a glint of All for One crossing his green locks. Anger and desperation in his eyes.

You stared at him and blinked. "Your dream?" You asked softly.

"Mommy..." You both turned around shocked at the sound of your toddler. Toshinori stood at the door wide eyed and confused as he looked between the both of you. He blinked and rubbed his nose as he stood in his onesie that was designed to look like his father's prohero costume. "Mommy why you and daddy fighting? You loud."

You instantly eased as you forced a smile to your face as you fought back tears. "It's okay, sweetheart. It's okay." You walked over to Toshinori. "Did we wake you up?" He nodded his head tiredly but looked past you to his dad.

Izuku smiled as he walked over to the two of you. "Hey buddy, you should go to bed but daddy is going to be gone when you wake up okay?"

Toshinori's eyebrows furrowed together his little lips pursing. "Gone where?"

You looked at your husband with a look begging him not to do this.

He glanced up at you before looking back at Toshinori. "Daddy needs to go on a plane to America. He needs to go meet with some other heroes." He smiled as he crouched down in front of Toshinori.

Your son took a moment to think about this statement. "Daddy will be back for my birthday?" He asked.

Izuku sucked in a breath but put on a sad smile. "No." He shook his head. "I won't be there." At those words you saw your son's mouth frown as tears went to his eyes. Izuku quickly moved to take his son's little hands into his bigger ones. "but I'll get you something super nice while on my trip. A nice big present."

Toshinori paused and sniffed, his crying halted. "A big present?"

"Yes a very big present."

"But its far away?"

"Yes, so it will take some time but I'll bring it in 6 days okay." He held up six fingers. "Can you protect mommy like Daddy does for 6 days while I'm gone."

Toshinori sniffed and rubbed his nose with his sleeve. "Okay."

Izuku picked up your son and kissed his head. "That's my boy, how about I put you back to bed."

Izuku walked out of the room, with your son in his arms.

By the time that Izuku walked back into the master bedroom you were no where to be seen. After he finished packing he found you seemingly asleep in the guest bedroom. He hesitated at the door, his bags packed and at the door. He opened his mouth to say something but it felt as though there was a ball stuck in his throat.

He walked over to your form and kissed your head. "I'll call you when you're up." He said softly.

You didn't respond.

It hurt to see you in a bed that wasn't the one you both shared but he understood your anger.

Or maybe he didn't.

The entire drive to the airport, the commission sent vehicle to pick him up, he could barely focus. He could barely breathe. He hated doing this to you. Even when boarding the jet and Shoto and Ochaco at his side he barely heard a word of what they said.

When he entered his private bedroom in the cabin, determined to catch some sleep if any at all while travelling. He put his carry on onto the bed and started sifting through everything but paused when he saw something he had not packed.

An envelope sat snugly in his bag. It had no sender nor who it was for. He opened it and pulled out a square piece of paper.

Staring back at him was a sonogram dated from the beginning of this week from the OBGYN that you had had since Toshinori. A 9 week photo. Scribbled at the bottom was written in your hand writing.

"Hope the sacrifices were worth it for YOUR dream. We'll be here."

Izuku couldn't breathe as he stared down at it.

It wasn't even three seconds later when he raced to the trashcan of the room, his body wretching.

He felt sick.
