She hovers by the threshold at first, glancing at the door then down at the stairs as she openly ponders if it’s more ‘normal’ and ‘polite’ to stay outside as originally intended. Beyond family visits the bird’s never really been invited into somebodies house before.

It’s a short debate, thankfully. None of this interaction has been conventional, and Mae seems pretty damn chill herself. It’s nice, she thinks. Claire smiles warmly at the passing compliment and gives a nod of her own in return, although it’s short and sweet.

“Sure, if you’re sure you’re cool with it! Just… try not to murder me until I’ve let my aunt know where to find my remains, yeah?” she chuckles, bringing her phone back out of her own pocket for emphasis.

Mae shoulders in through the doorway, her boots still caked with dirt and leaving a terrible mess behind as she marches up the hall. It’s been a while since she’s had anyone over, and it makes the house feel oddly underwhelming. She almost expects to see her dad already sat sure at the TV, but knows it’s far too early for Garbo & Malloy.

This visit has already thrown her routine out of whack, but not in a bad way. It’s just weird.

“I think we’re doing this murder thing wrong. But sure,” she smiles. “I have to actually find the Wi-Fi password though. It’s written down somewhere. And it’s still like, the default one that came with the router? So just a bunch of numbers and letters and stuff.”
