Because someone asked if a deformity was the reason Sage got her cybernetic parts and since I don't know if I'll ever draw anything that has to do with this (and if I do, it'll be a long time) I just wanna yap about it

You’re pretty much correct!

My timeline for classic Stob goes all the way to Sonic Mania, with most of the story focus being on the classic games only. So it begins with Sonic 1, they meet after Sonic 2 and it goes all the way to Sonic Mania. I know there's also Superstars (?) but I know nothing about that game, so

In Sonic Mania you have the Phantom Ruby and it messes with reality.

And that was kind of the idea. They didn't even know yet, and the reality warping done with the Ruby messed with Sage early on.

It made her sick / gave her troubles (not sure what exactly yet) and right after she was born she had to be saved with the cybernetic parts.

This is also supposed to be a bit of a parallel to Maria because she was also sick (but with something else) and therefore Shadow really cares about Sage.

I know nothing about Sonic Frontiers aside of her existence so bear with me, this is probably very far off everything but I don't really care because I want them to have a happy ending in my classic Universe.

Speaking of their happy ending this is basically how they end up retiring.

They've been mostly quiet for a long time already and while Sonic is getting suspicious of what big evil Ivo must be planning, he is stuck in a conflict whether he should give up his evil plans or not. Watching Sage grow up and talking to Stone about settling down eventually makes him decide to stop.

Afterwards they have their little Mean Bean coffee shop and Eggmanland for everyone to enjoy.

This is where Ivo becomes "the Tinkerer" although he is NOT like the Tinkerer in IDW, he does have all his memories and actively decided to stop the evil doing.

Fun fact: This was actually based off a sketch I drew at Sonic Expo 2023 and left in the drawing room. I had completely forgotten it existed, until the commissioner messaged me asking if I was the original artist and if I could remake it! I was happy to oblige lol
