Iâm rereading Prisoner of Azkaban and the trio visit Hagrid after Buckbeak injured Malfoy. After Hagrid calms down, he finally notices that Harry is indeed there, when heâs not supposed to be out after dark because of the threat of Sirius looming and he says this:
âCâmon!â Hagrid said angrily. âIâm takinâ yer all back up ter school, anâ donâ let me catch yeh walkinâ down ter see me after dark again. Iâm not worth that!â
That last sentence really got to me, because here you have Hagrid, such a kind, gentle, loving soul, willing to give anything and anyone a chance, inherently assuming that all animals (ferocious or not) are worthy of love and nurture, and he says heâs not worth the effort and the risk. Not even when heâs going through a difficult time and could use support and comfort. And I just want to hug him so badly, because damn, heâs worth SO much. Â
