@eternallyelena — BUNNY IGLESIAS X LATINA!READER
— FEATURING: BUNNY IGLESIAS X F!READER, meeting her parents for the first time.
— A/N: I tried to be super inclusive in the spanish phrases so i used venezuelan, chilean etc, sorry if my spanish is hot ass and sorry if it's not accurate could you guys let me know. (The title means from girl to woman, and its based off the Julio Iglesias song)
Meeting parents, it was a pretty common experience for partners. But that didn't stop you from being nervous, it wasn't the fact that Bunny was disrespectful, not at all, though you did ask him to tone it down on his teasing. What made you nervous was the fact your boyfriend was a famous and skilled football player. And to add insult to injury, your father was a football fanatic and would probably ask your boyfriend a plethora of questions, making the dinner about his job rather than him as a person.
After parking the car, the two of you just remained within the car, to catch a breath.
"Listen, if my dad asks about football or anything, you don't have to answer, I want this job to be about you and getting to know you."
To that Bunny chuckled, while grabbing your hand and rubbing it soothingly. "Amorcito, i'll be okay, your parents seem like lovely people."
At last, the two of you got up and knocked on the door. Your eyes darted around nervously, hoping your parents wouldn't embarass you. Your gaze landed on Bunny who was holding a bouquet of Gardenia's, your mothers favourite, along with a bottle of Pisco (it's basically chilean alc)
The two of you were greeted with your mother whose eyes gleamed at the flowers your boyfriend so kindly brought for her. She took them graciously and placed them in a conveniently positioned vase. Then, she took the alcohol, impressed with your boyfriends choice of Brandy.
"Evening, Señora L/N." Bunny said politely, flaunting his Spanish background to gain favour from your mother.
"Ah! Mi vida, is this him? He's so tall and handsome!" Your mother chirped, inviting the pair of you inside.
"Mama! He's right there!" You frowned, as Bunny glanced at you, a playful glint in his eyes.
"Cãrino, you never call me tall or handsome." He pouted, trying to rile you up just a little."
"I do all the time! What are you talking about!" You huffed as you slipped off your jacket and hung it up.
"¡Mi cielo!" Your mother scolded. "How could you be so awfully cruel, now put on your pantfulas, ah sorry Bunny, I'll be sure to get you a pair."
"No worries, I'm only a guest as of right now."
"Nonsense! You're family now, I'll be sure to get you a pair of slippers."
"Ma, we haven't talked about that yet!"
"¡Dios Mio! Y/N, I'm expecting you get me some grandkids, you're twenty four, see your brother has already popped out two little angels, but that absolute bruja of a mother in law keeps taking my sweet babys from me!"
"Ma!!" You cried out, insanely embarassed as Bunny laughed, easing the tension a little.
"Está bien, we'll be having that talk soon, señora." He stated, while rubbing your back to relax you a little, knowing your mother came off a little overbearing at times. "Are you making Ropa Vieja?"
"Si si, ah you're so much better then that gringo your sisters dating, ¿Bunny, hablas español?"
To that, your mother clapped her hands in joy, happy that you atleast found a boy that could speak spanish decently. Unlike your lame sister who is dating a very sweet guy, but unfortunately had embarassed himself attempting to pronounce ferrocarri, his failure to roll his r's dooming him.
"Mama, go check on dinner." You yelled, insanely embarassed by how overwhelming your mother could be at times. She eventually scurried off to the kitchen, checking if the absolute buffet of food she made was perfect. Hand in hand, you both walked to the living room to see your dad sat on the couch, paceña cans littered all over the table. At the sight of a very famous footballer for FC BARCHA, he gasped.
"I know you, you're the guy who plays for Spain, I've seen your plays, tell you what hijo, come sit with me and watch the game."
"Viejito! This is about getting to know my boyfriend, not just talking about football." You whined, adorably stamping your foot. "You can talk about that another time." Pouting and facing away from him.
Your father chuckled at your moodiness, standing up and ruffling your hair. "I'm sorry, mi vida, I was just excited is all, come on let's see what that vieja cooked up for us."
All three of you then went to the kitchen, your dad sat across the two of you as you held Bunnys hand under the table, your mother eventually showing up with racks of all sorts of South American and Hispanic dishes. Causing you to scoff, anytime there was a function she cooked enough to feed a village.
"Now Bunny, if anythings too spicy, let me know okay, and make sure to eat lots, a big guy like you needs lots of energy, and I'm sure my daughter doesn't feed you enough."
"Mama! I feed him plenty, thank you for asking." You huffed, though there was some honesty in her words, as Bunny was primarily the cook in the two of you's relationship.
"What! I've seen your arepas, dios mio, you should see them Bunny, they have the consistency of a leather sofa."
Embarassed, you look away from your mother, only to meet Bunny's soft gaze, causing you to calm down. His large ruby eyes held a softness only for you.
After that lengthy meal which mainly consisted of just teasing you, the four of you sat there, stomachs filled to the brim with all sorts of delicacies, it was an intimate atmosphere despite the initial quiteness. A voice then cut through it, your mothers.
"Y/N, help me clean up." Your mother comanded, glaring at you, provoking chills to run down your spine.
"Do you need any help?" Bunny asked geniunely, causing your mother to pamper him.
"Oh no Bunny, I wouldn't dream of asking a guest to help, you relax and me and this mocosa over here will clean up."
Begrudingly, you got up and joined your mother in the kitchen, where the two of you prepared for the multitude of dishes needing to be cleaned.
Bunny sat quietly, as your father lit a cigarette, looking at him intently, an air of intensity shrouded the pair of them, a stark contrast from the vivacious atmosphere from earlier.
"Bunny, i'll say this since my darling daughter isn't here, and I don't want her to worry but." Your father paused, taking a swig of his cigarette, "If you ever break my daughters heart by raising your voice at her, hitting her, being unfaithful, i promise you, you'll regret it." Your father said, his wrinkly face still protuding an air of invitation and kindness, yet his words being intensely harsh and sinister. "This viejito may seem harmelss, but I'd do anything for my daughter, so I trust you won't do anything, I've been with her since she was a girl; she may be a woman now. She may no longer be by my side, and her soul might have changed, but I still love her so much."
To any normal person, they would be terrified, but Bunny seemed oddly relaxed, at first surprised but overall unfazed by your fathers words. "I'd never to anything like that to hurt her, I love your daughter dearly." He said honestly, his voice not faltering for even a second.
Covered in dish soap, you returned, your fingers all pruned up due to washing the dishes.
"So what did you guys talk about?" You asked curiously, your eyes lighting up at the possibility of your two favourite guys bonding with eachother.
"Ah nothing, just football and such." Your father said casually, as if he didn't threaten to beat the shit out of Bunny if he broke your heart.
"¡Papi! I thought I told you not to mention that."
Following suit, your mother appeared as well, a mischevious glint in her eyes, a telltale sign she's up to no good.
"Bunny, do you wanna see baby pictures of Y/N?!" Your mother offered, causing your face to go beet red.
Immediately, Bunny nodded, delighted at the new material to tease you with. Your mother ushered everyone to the living room, grinning ear to ear as you sulked in embarassment. However, he was also curious to see your change from a girl to a woman.
"Did you know we used to call Y/N blanquita due to her horrific spanish?"
