People keep asking who would do all the menial jobs if they didnât have the threat of starvation hanging over their heads, but in my experience there are plenty of people who would be overjoyed to spend all day running minor errands for folks if they were allowed to tell the rude ones to fuck off.
If money wasnât a problem, I actually enjoy the physical labor of my job and the sense of fulfillment at having something concrete I can look at and accomplishâitâs the being treated like a vending machine/punching bag while also making barely liveable wages that make the whole thing suck, not the work itself
I really enjoyed the tetris like feel of bagging groceries and stocking shelves for years. What wore me down was the inconsistent hours, bad pay, poor treatment of workers overall (they treated the elderly employees especially horribly) and nasty customers who I couldnât tell off.Â
For more pay, and more protection, Iâd have happily stayed for a while longer.
I absolutely LOVE working early hours making coffee and tea and donuts and all that. I would fucking show up at 4am in the morning to work in a coffee shop that doesnât have a manager constantly screaming at how long the line is and how many sales we need to make in an hour to reach our quota.
Like, I just really enjoy making food and mornings and people.Â
Yeah tbh I really like selling phones and helping people understand their technology, I love helping people in general, if malwart wasnât such a hell hole itâd be perfect
âBut who would do all the menial jobs if we didnât threaten people with starvation?â
Have you considered making them not menial?
1.(of work) not requiring much skill and lacking prestige.âmenial factory jobs"synonyms:unskilled, lowly, humble, low-status, inferior, degrading;
The degradation of these jobs and the workers who do them is artificial and deliberate, made to justify the low wages and help reinforce the system that keeps people doing them despite said degradation.
It is entirely possible to create workspaces where the people who do these jobs are treated well, valued, allowed comfort and boundaries. This is a thing we can do.
thereâs no such thing as unskilled jobs, just undervalued workers
Up all night, Clarissa Bonet

Hey if youâre schizophrenic/psychotic I just want you to know that youâre a wonderful person and that you deserve so much better than the demonization, marginalization and stigmatization you face in this society.
Please consider reblogging this/other positivity posts for schizophrenic/psychotic people every once in a while. If you have more than 100 followers, odds are that a couple of them experiences psychosis and that they rarely see positivity posts for people with their symptoms.

Actually the MOST cottagecore thing is fighting for indigenous sovereignty and then working communally on the land to support each other as well as the environment while not upholding colonial ideologies
Edit, since this post has been getting a lot of attention: this wasnât a very thoroughly thought-out post, so I thought Iâd clear up my case.
This wasnât really about cottagecore, but a refusal of it. Cottagecore is inherently damaging, colonial, and capitalistic. The land isnât something to be owned, purchased, or soldâ especially when the land was stolen in the first place.
I am advocate for indigenous sovereignty on turtle islandâ how the land is used is up to the original stewards. This means a complete reform of âCanadaâ and âAmericaâ.
Better than your ~aesthetic homestead~ ideal (which in itself is flawedâ farming is HARD) is building communities, listening to indigenous folks, and treating the land with respect.
Why do Spotify friends exist? So they can see my ABHORRENT taste in music at 2am on a Tuesday? So they know I have played Party In The USA on a loop for three weeks? So they know all my faults and weaknesses? Why is this a feature.
maybe this is just the âgrowing up relatively poorâ speaking but like why do some people like NEED disneyland to be open to simulate an area where they can enjoy themselves. just grab a popsicle from the gas station and go hop around on some abandoned piles of concrete behind the softball pitch smh
I just thought this set of tweets was really important.

my biology professor has such a chaotic energy about him, last week i went to his office hours and somehow we ended up on the topic of gay marriage:
he said that when he lived in texas they changed the law to define marriage as âbetween a man and a woman in a house of religious worship with the intention to have childrenâ so he filed his taxes as single and when they called him up like âyou filed married last yearâ he was like âyou changed the law, i was married by a judge in a courthouse and i have no intention of having kidsâ and they told him âyou know who that law was forâ and i guess he hung up on them and did not, in fact, pay taxes as a married man that year
Chaotic good
NO! This is Lawful Good! He is following the LAW! Chaotic doesn't just mean cheeky!
this is like how Sweden stopped classifying homosexuality as an illness because people started a campaign of calling in gay to work
malicious compliance is one of the best tools in the arsenal of civil rights activism
I know that Iâve reblogged this before and quite recently but the idea of calling in gay to work is just too funny to me to resist reblogging again.
If you dare come at me about banning straws, I will throw you into the sun cannon. Iâm disabled, Iâm crippled, I need disposable plastic straws, and all those pricey ridiculous alternatives arenât working as well. Plastic straws were invented for the disabled.
Way to shit all over a vital access need because you think straws are worse than corporate greed.
We all care about the turtles, the seals, the oceans, obviously. Notice how the easiest thing to yell about was something that would barely affect anything but appealed heavily to emotional discourse.
The disabled community is huge, and it can be joined by anyone. Most of those As Seen On TV products were invented for us. Society still mocks us and ignores us, and often outright harms us in multiple ways.
Communicate better. Listen better. But stop putting us out in the cold because you are inconvenienced by our simplest needs.
Straws arenât killing the planet, its animals, or people. Theyâre a microscopic fraction of an iota of a percentage of the problem. You want to do something? Ban plastic fishing nets. Anything else is just a hollow feel-good gesture at the expense of real living disabled people.
