You're not special because you're "weird"

That we will have the first female VP. The first female VP of color. The first Jewish second-gentleman.

The most LGBTQ members of Congress ever.

What will likely be the most diverse cabinet ever.

We did that!

But! Overwhelmingly, Black voters, and Black women, and Black organizers did that.

And we need to keep fighting like hell.

Just because Biden won doesn’t mean you don’t have to support Black Lives Matter.

It doesn’t mean you can forget the struggles of our Trans Sisters.

it doesn’t mean you can forget about supporting indigenous people.

It doesn’t mean you can finally ignore disabled voices.

It doesn’t mean we don’t have to keep fighting for a better world.

We cannot go back to before because before never existed.

We still need to do everything in our power to protect one another.

We are not out of the woods yet. We won’t be for a very long time.

Yes, be excited, celebrate, recognize the accomplishment that has happened! But be prepared to continue the fight for the right to exist.

- Black lives still matter. Systemic racism and police brutality aren’t going to go away because Biden got elected. We gotta keep fighting it.

- The American government is still disenfranchising people of color, trans people, people with disabilities, and many others. Just because Biden has slightly more liberal ideas and policies does not mean that everyone will benefit from his election.

- Roe v. Wade is still in danger. Biden does support reproductive rights, thank god, but he’s not the only one running the government. Amy Coney Barrett is a justice now, don’t forget that.

- Native people are still being ignored, abused, and killed. This isn’t a Trump issue. America was founded on the genocide of indigenous populations and Biden isn’t going to magically fix this.

- Trump wasn’t the problem. He was a symptom of the problem. A lot of white liberals who protested Trump by saying that his America wasn’t ‘their America’ are going to go back to ignoring the issues that have always been present in this country. People elected Trump. People still support Trump and they aren’t going to give up. We can’t afford to choose collective amnesia.

You’re worried about your kids and your worried about your sister and ‘can she just go to Walmart and get back into her car without someone saying something to her.’ And you’re spending so much of your life energy just trying to hold it together.

This is a big deal for us just to be able to get some peace and have a chance for a reset and the character of the country matters and being a good man matters. I want my sons to look at this, you know… It’s easy to do it the cheat way and get away with stuff, but it comes back around. 

It comes back around. This is a good day for this country.
