     instead he stood toe to toe with a tar black  mass  with milky white eyes and a pile of trinkets under paw-like appendages. it was a spirit that had consumed many other spirits, splayed like a lump in a warehouse plagued with ghost stories. mob had only come because he heard it’d been causing quite a ruckus, inflecting nightmares and day visions. it was definitely fully capable of those things, the room itself swelling with a considerable amount of energy to prove it, but the spirit itself had remained  docile , even with mob’s sudden intrusion. 

     stranger still, it stared through mob like he wasn’t even there. 

          he gently asked it, “you’re not causing unnecessary trouble, are you?” 

     and nothing stirred. a relief, really, until mob turned to leave and slipped on a puddle of...something. it stuck to his hands and face, smelled of  rot , the vestiges of  panic  beginning to grip him until it disappeared altogether, no residue left behind. a vision, if nothing else, and  something  had caused it.

     maybe in the upper floors. maybe not even in the building it all. the presence of any other spiritual beings was paper-thin, hard to detect. mob left the warehouse rubbing his thumb and forefinger together as a result, leaning against the outside while to wait for his thoughts to gather.

     now, teru’s  gaudy  fashion sense was bound to get him in trouble someday, but this was particularly atrocious. unbelievable, really. he held up to the light a pair of highlighter bright sweaters with sleeves  meant  to be twice the length of an actual arm, the body patched together with an assortment of unrelated fabric like plaid, suede, and cotton. he practically had  stars  in his eyes looking at them, eyes drifting towards the footwear section like he had the chance to find sneakers to match.
