again, woobifying his actions by themselves is wrong. however the concept of komaeda being the self-centered trickster a lot of people see him as is,, incorrect. it just doesn’t sit with me, especially that komaeda is more selfless and well-meaning in his own terrible way than anything else. even his death itself was sacrifical - upon learning about the horrible truth of the neo world program, he tried to kill everyone but chiaki, thus cleaning the world of its true danger: the remnants of despair. the painful way in which he died was unfortunately required to carry on with his plan and tick off all the checks in order to trick everyone into believing that he had killed himself and he bore through it all for the sake of saving the world’s hope. (in the short ova, it is mentioned that even after komaeda’s psyche was recreated, the traumatic way in which he died impaired it and he had to be rehabilitated before being awakened. his death was literally That Bad.)
