Dinner party conversation
A business dinner on vacation
When I get home, I’ll lose the animation
Because people wear me out.
I’ll laugh and joke and put on a show
I’ll nod along as if I know
When I hit the bed, to sleep I go

Conversation I’ll over-analyze
Which is a habit I despise
Digest, re-think, and scrutinize

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving but here I am dreaming about Shake Shack. Wish they’d hurry up with the one in St. Louis. Best cheese fries. They give me heart eyes. This has been a profound post.

It’s been a long time.
I gave up on this blog for a long time, but I think I need a place to write some non-work related things down again. So here I am.
What’s new:
I just celebrated three years of freelancing.
I’ve been reading a ton. I just finished Jensen Karp’s Kanye West Owes Me $300.
This past year I’ve traveled to LA, Palm Springs, Nashville, Louisville, Austin, St. Louis, and Chicago
I started doing more yoga.

Got to go wedding dress shopping with my gal pal Emily this past weekend. She looked so beautiful in every one she tried on, but wasn't ready to pull the trigger on anything yet, as this was her first time looking.
I love our living room at Christmas. It's so cozy! Also so is that new faux fur blanket.
Last week I visited Allerton Park for the first time with one of my clients. The mansion and gardens there were beautiful, remote, and almost had a wonderland-like quality, with one portion of the gardens including a 20-foot wall of shrubs on both sides and a narrow path that entered into the labyrinth pictured. Lots of Asian influence too, as the owner and his partner were avid travelers and collectors of sculpture.
The builder’s father was one of the founders of the Chicago stock yards, and after a failed art career in Europe, the son returned home to build this “proper farm house” as he called it. The downstairs floor of the house is really intimate with a giant library and tons of natural light that make it very cozy.

2 years of marriage, almost 10 years of being best friends.
Forever clinging to him for sanity, and sublimely happy to be right beside him. A full head shorter and always on my tippy toes to get closer to his cute face. Our conversations are whispered to each other in a crowded room, laden with inside jokes and references only two people who’ve spent years watching the same tv shows and movies can understand. He brings logic to my impulsive brain. He makes me laugh every single day. He’s smarter than me in so many ways but still makes me feel like my ideas and interests are fascinating and important because they are mine.
Man, Chicago is beautiful. I spent a while at the Ohio Street beach yesterday finishing Mindy’s latest book (which was great!) It’s such a nice change of scenery. Loving the chance to explore while brandon is at Chicago Booth for executive education this week.
