こんな小さな町にある、ただのソーダ工場なんだけど、他州どころか国外からも年間に何万人もが訪れてくるという。というのも、今世界中にあるドクターペッパーの工場の中で、唯一このダブリンだけが、創業当初1885年からのオリジナルレシピで製造してるからだ。どうやら、オリジナルレシピでは、砂糖をソーダの甘味料として使っていたのだが、原料コストなどを鑑みて、他工場は80年代を境にコーンシロップへと移行してしまったらしい。ところがこのダブリン工場だけは、従来の味を変えたくないということで、いまだに砂糖を使い続けている。

ただ、工場の結んだフランチャイズ契約により、このオリジナル製法のドクターペッパーは、テキサス州内の限られたエリアにしか流通できないらしいのだ。よって、筋金入りのドクターペッパーファンは、他州やら海外からはるばると、「元祖の味」を飲みに来る、というわけだ。中には、隣の州から毎月数回、1日がかりで運転してきて買いだめしていくファンも結構いるとか。
